The 9V battery is not really budget battery. The $ per miliampere is awful. The AA/AAA options are better. If a cheap host is needed, i have seen many 5/7 led options with 3xAAA for like a dollar.
Thanks for the replies. Not as good a light as I thought. I was thinkingof a 9v battery light that is not produced anymore. I remember someone had claimed they went on a month long hike and did not deplete the battery. ?? Of course it put out a moonn mode light.

I have several of these 9v âblock lightsâ as they are sometimes called.
The 9 volt format is (edit)3 6xAAA in series. That said, I have even used old 9 volt batteries laying around to power these little âblock lightsâ.
I use them indoors late at nite bath trips etc. Seem to last forever on a 9 volt battery used or new. They have their place. I mean, if all you had access to was a single 9volt battery, youâd be glad you had the âblock lightâ head to attach it to.
I have one running on low, 2 leds, and will see if it runs 100 hours. I am very sceptical. The amount of lights appears to be about what my Fenix E01 puts out. The E01 runs slightly less than 9 hrs on alkys.

Are you sure? Iâve charged Tenergy 9Vâs to 9.4Vâs and used them at only around 8.95Vâs or so after they sat around for awhile and they still powered up alky designed 9V devices.
Unless this is an mAh issue. I use Tenergy Low Self-Discharge Centuraâs @200mAh.
I hope youâre wrong cuz I just bought 7 of these.
Freshly Edited: Just received 14 of these today. Bought 7 for $21 and received 7 more free as part of the BOGO. At $1.50 each x 14 + 14 alkalines, so including shipping = one HELLUVA bargain in my book.
Butt more importantly THESE DO WORK WITH NiMh. Tested with 3 Tenergyâs as described above. One @ 8.92V, another 8.93V and one 9.04V. All work as well as the alkaline batts they came with. Decent output too.
I would double check your NiMh cell(s). My guess you do read adequate voltage but their mAhâs are kaput.
Likely will work. Ya might wanna change yer title now maybe by adding below itâŚâŚ(Works with NiMh too) or sumthing to that effect.
This was a great find, Jerry. Thanks. Great for giving to Muggles especially.
I was surprised how well these focus their beam. Decent hot spot and spill. You wouldnât think it could come otta that rectangular array either butt it does. Switch works without a glitch and isnât scratchy.
Dorcy did a dam good design job on these. In fact Iâm buying 7/14 more if still available.
This is the kind of BLF super bargain we used to see a lot of back in the good old days of LED mania. BLFâers might consider at least a few for glove boxes, etc.
The NiMh capability is extra icing and kinda puts getting sum 9V rechargeable Tenergyâs for emergencies now more practically prudent IMO.
