Fireflies E07 preview

My 2nd unit (this one Desert Yellow / CREE XPL HI V2 NW 5000K / Blue) shipped from Nealsgadgets, although with a different method (DHL eCommerce) than my last order for some reason.

It must be seriously floody then as the ROT66 is already a very floody light.

Aren’t the optics the exact same? 25 degree optics?

I found a beamshot/output comparison between the D4 and the E07 on Youtube:

Damn that E07 looks twice as bright as the D4. Amazing!

It looks pretty good wow. Hoping my E07 XPL Hi 5k is going to be almost as bright as the 6500k.

Any comparison videos with the D4S?

Yea its better to compare with d4s and e07… i think e07 will be brighter than d4s…

E07 xpl hi 6500k will be around 5500 ballpark… will find out when i get the light…

I got my Emisar D4 (with 10623 optic) in the mail today and I have to say that now I really want a floody optic version of the E07.

Basically, I think the D4 is too small and it could also probably benefit from the larger 21700 battery.

I am anxiously awaiting the d4 and d4S offered with a 21700 battery tube. These lights are perfect for it. Higher amps and higher mAh balance than 18650s with less sag running hard.
C’mon Emissar! Are you listening?

Hank probably isn’t listening too close to the FireFlies thread…

lol

Hank barely even monitors his own threads.

I think emisar lights are better quality… i own like 8 of them. Problem free.

You and I have had our share of problems this year, though yours has been worse and kudos to you for always keeping good spirits! I had the Emisar D4S pulling 26x the mA that it should, only on High AUX. My Fireflies PL47 has a case of the AUX LEDs doing whatever they please, flickering on and off. My Skylumen Tange completely died, now that’s a torch with a 100% failure rate; if it hasn’t yet it will, though I figured out why they’re failing and was able to fix mine and prevent it from happening again. BG sent me a torch with a Euro plug so I couldn’t charge it lol. I bought some new batteries that came corroded. It’s been a fun 2018

I haven’t found any even though I think it would make for a better comparison. The guy who did the first one uploaded a second one and said that he will release a review in german in the german TLF soon.
He uploaded this second D4/E07 comparison in the meantime:

Yes. Yes… tange is junk… he know it too… he sent me a replacement. It died… the good thing is he will refund 100%.

One thing I’m interested to find out is how the runtime graph for the D4S compares with the E07. I would presume when set to a similar thermal threshold, the E07 being hotter (more LEDs) will stepdown faster — but when it steps down, around how many lumens will that level be? (I remember reading about the Fireflies ROT66 can have around 600-700 lumens for a relatively long time). How about the D4S and the E07?

d_t_a, you should look for regulated lights for run time, like the UT02 or Lumintop ODL20 (essentially same light).

Our FET driven lights are about max output and as such, they are brightest at full charge and dim as the cell dies, not conducive to lengthy run times at any particular output level. When Comfychair started cramming the big 07N02 onto Q-Lite drivers it was all about more power, our FET drivers decended from those early experiments, with MattAus and Alex largely being the developers switching us over from the 7135 regulation chip. I built my share of the early experiments and truly don’t miss stacking chips for more power.

These Fireflies lights use the latest iterations of that early work, at the heart of these drivers it’s still all about maximum output although the plus one style brings some efficiency into the picture… sustained max output can be adjusted by once again stacking chips to raise the ceiling on the plus one channel… provided of course that access can be gained to the driver.

is there a coupon for the ff site? i would like to order from them directly.
