I never see keychain button battery lights mentioned. I have given at least 200 of these away, and carried one on m y keychain for several years. Now that the Olight i3 eos is around I have made that my keychain light. It is the first light I have found small enough.
What would that do? I never heard of it, but do people who use the coin cell light really care? I believe that they just want a reliable light to shine when turned on.?? :money_mouth_face:

Oh boy, you are going to get the CRI folks all fired up now. I agree with you but it’s not going to stop the incoming assault on anything non high CRI and 3000K. Sometimes a light just has to shine, to some folks it has to show the absolute correct color of said tile, walls, and butt paper on the way to the toilet.
easy enough to replace the led with whatever you want.
just have to replicate the lead bends so it works reliably.
i have put ebay hi cri into plenty of the things and topped it off with a lir2032 rather than 2 cr2016.
these are rechargeable.
They’re very cheap, but that’s the only advantage they have over rechargeable keychain lights. Sure, I can get 10 for $4 or whatever, but they’re basically disposable and weak, both structurally speaking and from a brightness standpoint. I would much rather spend a few dollars more to get one Nitecore Tube which is superior in every single way, AND in ways that normal non-obsessed people can appreciate and go “yes, I can see what this is about and I prefer it.” Button cell lights are obsolete.
Thanks for that Jerry. I knew folks would come aboard and critique these wanting high CRI, Yugi’s, WW, NW or whatever. Members here are a fickle bunch.
I still have several of the original Protons that I accumulated years ago and have upgraded with better LED’s. They make great zipper pulls.
I have gifted maybe 100+ of those lights. At $.35 - .40 each they are affordable for that. Cheap is the major advantage, I did buy a Nitecore Tube. It is OK, but not overly impressive, but I would not have given the number away that I did the the cheap ones.
I just received 40 more, and they will not last long. The amount of light is easily sufficient to make a bathroom trip in the night. If they break just toss them and I will give you another. After all this is a budget light forum.
