Good work coming up with a way to eliminate the beam artifact. A couple others have tried the same thing upthread. There seems to be variation between samples whether there is a hotspot or other artifact, and to what degree, and it sounds like the 3200K is more likely to have it.
Their plan has been to make equal numbers of each color in each tint. There should be a total of 250 pieces of each in red and 150 pieces of each in blue being made. I assume they had all of them anodized in one batch, but we’ll see them trickle onto the store in small numbers as they get the lights assembled. The black version was the same way.
I tried that too (did not have a fine point sharpie)
Im not sure it helped eliminate the hotspot
after partial black out, I got 3.3 lumens, on my meter
I then used a qtip with alcohol and removed the black sharpie markings
now it reads 7.8 lumens, same battery
Hmmm, what were they thinking? Surely not “cold blue ice, warm red flame”
Maybe:
Spectral Classes
Star Type ————Color ————Approximate Surface Temperature
F ————Blue to White————6,000 - 7,500 K
G ————White to Yellow————5,000 - 6,000 K
K ————Orange to Red ————3,500 - 5,000 K
M ————Red ————————under 3,500 K
fwiw
they made Red ones in Both 3200 and 5600,
the 3200 Red ones sold out first
I got one of the Red 3200, will sell to highest bidder… PM me if interested in bidding… LOL!
they made Blue ones in Both 3200 and 5600,
the 5600 Blue ones sold out first
I got one of the Blue 5600, will sell to highest bidder… PM me if interested in bidding… LOL!
they made black ones in both 3200 and 5600,
they sold about equal quantities of each
I got one of the Black 3200, and one of the Black 5600, both have very stiff clips, no gumby here
will sell to highest bidder… PM me if interested in bidding… LOL!
Hindsight being 20/20, yeah this should have been anticipated and they should have focused on blue just being 5600k and red 3200K, black being available with either.
What I think happens is that with little batches stock shows up, you can order them but not not pay and wait for price drop, but the ordered lights are not reserved for you until payment, someone else pays full price and your lights are gone. And the price adjustment is not done until there’s new stock to fulfil your order.
Or they are in hibernation over there at the Sofirn store
Hum, I had an authomatic price adjustment from 15,75€ to 14,87€ (far from the 11,62€ I paid for my 2 black C01).
I sent a message to Sofirn with my BLF name, placed my order and now I’m waiting as well!
Today is 1st day of the 2019 Year and maybe Sofirn staff also had a day out! Even if their New Year is different from most of ours!
I’m sure they will adjust our prices
I think in this case “shipped” only means, “address label and postage has been printed”
next the packaged item has to get loaded into a mailroom basket
it has to get loaded into a truck
it has to arrive at the shipping sorting center, and dumped in a big pile on the ground
it has to get sorted and loaded into a shipping container
the container has to get loaded onto a boat
and THEN they have to start rowing… LOL!
once it crosses the great water, it will again get dumped into a sorting pile
will get loaded into a basket, onto a truck, and will arrive at yet another sorting center, another basket, another truck
and when it finally reaches my local post office, it will again be put in a big pile, sorted, basket, and loaded into a truck
