SK98...Is there a "Best" One to Get and Where?

Hey all,

I like these small, zoom lights and I have one of the SK68 lights and in my other thread I was told about the SK98 and how it takes a single 18650 cell, which is what I would like to have.
I looked at several places that sells these lights and on some of the sites I would see customers talking about how they got lights that would not accomodate the 18650 cell and others talked about other little things that were wrong with the sk98 lights that they thought they were getting. I’d like to get one, but I want to get what I am buying. Is there a shop that sells these SK98 lights that take the 18650 cells and is a nice, BRIGHT, Zoomable light that’s dependable and gives you what you pay for? Can you all recommend a place to buy one where I’ll actually get a nice light without any hassle?

Thank you for your time.
Larry

Pm sent Larry, I have a sk98 I’d like to give you…

Having said that another small zoomie I absolutely love is the zeusray, if you’re gonna actually buy one of these things I highly recommend trying to find it over the sk98.

Again I’m more than happy to give you this sk98 but you’ll have to pry my zeusray from my cold dead hands!

The SK98 world is a bummer, as usually happens with random flashlight manufacturers cutting corners. The UltraFire SK98 is the only one I dare to recommend, comes with a ∅11.1mm hollowy pill, this leaves 5mm of shelf which in my opinion is better than buying something else and having to deal with a full  hollow pill. It also uses a screw in retaining ring, which is also better than a plastic crap. They have recently swapped their tail switch provider/manufacturer, the previous one was PoS but at least I knew where to get inexpensive quality replacements fitting in their plastic pogo slot.

Cheers ^:)

P.S.: FastTech has an all time BLF coupon for flashlights, batteries and related stuff.

was a valiant attempt to pull together all the scattered Zeusray posts around the site.

I have several, would risk buying another. But note they went down the slippery slope so many other manufacturers have followed, cutting corners as they became more popular. Read carefully and be willing to complain to them if you get a bad one. They have been known to ship a good replacement for a bad light, which is commendable.

What does that Zeusray thing does better than an SK98? Looks like it employs ∅17mm driver; that to me is a step back.

Cheers ^:)

Zeusray has better lens then most SK98 (slightly wider flood) and is slightly more compact in width without those overabundance of side fins and less weight.
More easily pocketable. Does not have that built in cigar ring as the 98 does.
However, there have been multiple versions of Zeusray just as there have been on SK98 so it is hard to have head to head comparison unless both current available lights are in front of you.

I have 2 of the original version Zeusray and would not sell them as they do everything I want a compact 18650 zoomie to do.
Later,
