@TK
i already told Neal that a colored manual is a MUST (for every Anduril driven light)
i hope he can convince the manufacturers
Sounds good. But that’s extra cost for the manufacturers, many of whom probably routinely only make black and white manuals.
Rather than trying to get manufacturers to change, it’s probably much easier to just make a black and white compatible version.
Also, there’s no need to have just one version: Keep the color version, just also make a black and white alternate version.
Provide a .pdf color version that can be downloaded/printed and, to keep cost down, ship with the black and white version…… or make your own color version with photoshop……. that being said, this should be far down the list of priorities.

Im not a Pessimist …. just an Optimist with a lot of experience
It seems I need to stop procrastinating and update the UI diagram so it won’t require color. When printed on a black-and-white printer, it can be hard to tell the difference between single clicks and double clicks.
I have considerable experience with these types of illustrations and diagrams, and would be happy to help if needed. Just a friendly offer
joechina did most of the work for making the UI diagram more black-and-white printer friendly. I’ve been meaning to merge his changes for a while, but I keep getting distracted…
Anyway, here’s an updated diagram which uses two parallel lines for the green / double-click actions. Also, click the image for a much larger version for printing purposes.
Mostly, yes. I just needed to make the 1-click black lines and the 2-click green lines more visually distinct in ways which are visible on a black-and-white laser printer.

I don’t see the parallel lines. Are you saying that is something you have to add?
Hi all, My first post here, longtime lurker and flashaholic. Throwing me in for one please! Dark gray, XPL-HI emitter of thats still the option? Ive been watching this for so long Ive lost track of everything on it. Love the look of the HDS style on this and it will be a perfect EDC along with my Emisar D4!

Lurking flashaholic, Ive bought all my flashlights through lurking here, BLF A6, Sofirn C8F, Soforn Q8, Emisar D4, and a few not so budget lights but I mod them all the same! Been waiting for the FW3A to come out for years now.......

I used the same URL as the previous version, so it may be cached in your browser. Try a shift-reload to force it to reload images, or click on the image above for the printer-sized version.

Look real close, the broken green line is two parallel lines.

Bingo, I was starting to think I was loosing my mind.
Yes, that should work well in black and white. I find it odd that people are having trouble understanding Anduril. I true believe anyone will have this mastered by the time they drain there first cell.
I like the look but the only disappointing thing to me is the clip isn’t very deep carry. Hopefully there will be an alternative or aftermarket option.

Honestly I think a good manual should be readable and usable in color AND black and white. I don’t see a reason for two different version when all it takes to make it b/w friendly is probably just some different line pattern.
Andúril UI graphic
I tinkerd with the UI graphic a while ago with double lines for the green stuff.
I also did a few scaled down versions too because Toykeeper said she has no more space. A 95% and two in 90% and mailed TK.
Maybe use one of those? My experience with manufacturers is, regardless if the first run of documentations is full colour, there is always an idiot in the company who change them to black and white in order to save money. (And scales them down also)
Edit:
Ups,
I should read first the whole thread. TK posted it

The clip as is would look sleeker but I would prefer the functionality of a deep carry clip.
@Toykeeper
It looks good!
It seems you redid your version or?
With your own character with no whitespace left and right, but only a few pixels wide to get smooth curves in tight radiuses?
Or why has a “=” a bend?
Everything I write here is only a suggestion, please choose only what you like.
In the later versions I have an additional line in the top left corner as a clue for the user.
Is it intentional that the double lines (text) goes into the arrowheads? Guess Yes.
(Otherwise you must lower the text under the path.)
And you have a uniform lenght of green line in the arrow heads. Do you use the heads as starting point for the char? Nice idea.
Hey, you can place a white snow flake as first char to have it the arrow head, so it is more distinguishable to the black lines
When printed small the double lines are also tough. One option is to up the char size or to use other chars.
Maybe ╳ U+2573 is a better option?
And the line for other actions can also blur when printed small. That is a normal inkscape line style of I remember correctly. A bit fatter would be good.
The text in Lockout is too low contrast, depending how they print. Please use a bright grey or white
I would also brighten up the dark lower part of the ramp box.
or lay under the arrow head a white shape so it has a fine white line. The same for the dashed floor line part which is in the box
The red background in the temp check bubble can print in grey. A white outline on the text keep it readable under every circumstance.
A few other line stiles I came up with
(I don’t know if all the Unicode characters show up in the browser)
