Anyone modded a Wowtac A3/A3s?

I’m wondering how to removed the front bezel to get access to the emitter.
I’ve chewed the front up pretty good with pliers just trying to get it to turn, to the point where I’m sure its glued in and will probably required heat to release.

Thanks.

I got one a few month ago and it’s on my list of things to work on, just haven’t gotten around to it yet. I did try to get the bezel off and had to resort to warm it up to get it off. It did come off but it wasn’t easy. I would like to swap out the emitter but don’t have a suitable one at the moment. Have a few in route and I will mess with it when they come in.

I got two A3's also wait'n for some heavy lifting of the bezel. Will probably use the pine board method (holes drilled with slits for compression in a vise) -- it's worked wonders for me beofre, for lights I thought would never come apart.

I haven’t tried modding one, but I did remove the bezel on my A3 to take a look inside. There was no glue… just a fat o-ring.

The hard part is getting a firm grip on the lens retaining ring (the very front part of the bezel containing the crenelation) and the rest of the bezel, which is quite smooth.

I used fresh strips of 3M rubber indoor stairway grip tape. One piece around the bezel and a second piece across the front of the light. One firm turn by hand and it came off.

Once the lens retaining ring and lens is off, the rest of the bezel can slide off the back of the light. I haven’t tried, but you should then be able to unscrew and remove the pill or lift off the plastic cover over the star for an emitter swap.

The UI and output on the A3 and A3S is quite good. Excellent for a stock zoomie actually. The main thing I wanted to change was to find a narrower bezel. The stock bezel is so fat it feels uncomfortable in the pocket. It’s much fatter than it needs to be.

Unfortunately, none of the other bezels from my collection of budget lights fit.

Interesting... I tried my fav sticky gloves and couldn't budge it. Too small for my strap wrenches. Just not much to grab on to.

So, is it this stuff? amazon.com/3M-Safety-Walk-Resistant-180-Inch

If not, do you have a link? Lowes or HD?

Interesting. Been awhile since I bought my last roll. Checking on Amazon I no longer see the tape I used before. I wonder if 3M stopped selling it.

The stuff I got was 3M Indoor stairway grip tape. The main difference between the indoor and outdoor tape was the outdoor stuff was like sandpaper and is quite abrasive. The indoor stuff is just molded rubber.

The outdoor tape will probably work too, but I haven’t tried.
