[4K Review] Acebeam X70 takes on the MS12/DX80/X80-GT!!!

Best to watch on a 4K TV!

Great review. I’m surprised the DX80 actually looks comparable to the X70 in the distance. Seems like the DX80 has a more focused beam. The DX80 to me looks as bright as the MS12.

I think if someone mods the center XHP35 to a XHP70.2, the beam would blend in more and still get good throw.

The DX80 doesn’t have that much spill so it’s throwing a lot of lumens straight forwards, my 35mm camera doesn’t even film half of the MS12’s spill!

Fantastic review.

Wow! Epic!
Great video. Thanks for sharing.

Yes, agreed, thank you for posting.

Reliability issues aside I’m impressed by the DX80 in comparison, particularly when you factor in the smaller size and no fan.

The DX80 is a great light, definitely the winner over 150m as it’s throwing more light in its hotspot than the other 3. Regular USB charging too, and a digital read out!!!

Great comparison. Really glad I picked the DX80 for sale price.

Thank you very much for your very rare comparison video! I’m sure you’re one of the very few who own or have access to all four of these amazing lights!

I’m very curious about your opinion on how the new lumen monsters (MS12 & X70) compare to the DX80 in real life? I currently own the DX80 and am very happy with the light (less the DOA charger I got). I’ve spent a lot of time looking at the MS12 & X70 but now that I’ve finally seen your comparison I really don’t feel like the MS12 & X70 have a significant advantage over the DX80. It appears to me that the returns on 35 000+ lumen lights are diminishing dramatically especially when compared with the monster size/cooling/price increase required to go to 50 000+ lumens and beyond

Here’s my questions if you feel like elaborating:
1- comparing the X65 to the DX80 seemed like a giant leap of 100 - 150% performance increase. In your opinion, what would you suggest the overall performance increase of the MS12 & X70 is compared to the DX80?
2- In your opinion, do you think that the MS12 or X70 are worth it when compared to the DX80 and how much you sacrifice:
a- size - the DX80 is a large light but can still fit in large outerwear coat pockets. The MS12 & X70 are monsters requiring shoulder straps or constant carrying
b- price - the DX80 is considerably less expensive than the MS12 and I’m willing to bet if you scrounged for discount codes you could buy four DX80’s for the price of the X70
c- head - the DX80 gets hot and isn’t an EDC but it doesn’t require cooling fans which add more components that can fail or jam should you ever drop your light in the mud/dirt etc
3- in your opinion, are you able to discern in real life a 100% increase in brightness or does it seem marginally brighter with more washout and glare?

Hope to hear your opinions! I’ve been drooling over these 50 000+ lumen monsters but considering I already own the DX80 I’ve been feeling like I should just hold out until Acebeam & Imalent introduce their next flagship models which I expect will push the 90 - 100 000 lumen levels

The DX80, MS12 and X70 all deliver their power completely differently, it isn’t anything like owning three lights with different power levels.

The DX80 has by far the largest hotspot and narrowest spill, so to the naked eye it appears to be the most powerful as all the light is concentrated into your peripheral vision. The MS12 has the widest but dimmest spill but a wider hotspot than the X70. The X70 is just a massive area of super bright spill, though it does throw the furthest it’s not a wide beam.

In my opinion all lights are equally good. Each has pros and cons. I wouldn’t choose the X70 or MS12 over the DX80 based purely on lumens due to how the DX80 uses those lumens. Though it does mean lumens aren’t right at your feet.

Glare isn’t that bad on them as they aren’t that high on candela. They are like football stadium floodlights.
