Fireflies E07 preview

Is the broken leg on the optic really a quality control issue when it doesn’t affect function in any way?

None of these Chinese companies prioritize checking these forums. Even for Giveaways which is free marketing for them they have to be reminded to come back and finish it. I reminded Vapcell about their giveaway and they were thankful and completed it within 15 minutes of me reminding them. They said they work out of the office mostly and just didn’t think to check back.

People should just contact them for support and come back here and post about their experience. I’m sure some of the issues are user error and some will be resolved in fair and unfair ways from the manufacturer, like any company and vendor. Those reports are more valuable in my opinion than some of the things being posted.

Yea, I guess quality control it just appearance and working. Not internals

Had it on an hour still doing the moonlight/sunset thing, I’d just like something to happen for the review explanation.

Yea they dont monitor these forums. You have to contact them directly and point them to specific posts to get their attention. Previously I PM them regarding improving the thermal capabilities of the E07 and got response from them that they will be improving upon it in next prototype

Does Sunset mode do anything?

supposedly gets dimmer and dimmer. I let mine run and I didn’t notice it getting dimmer, it shut off after 1 hour and 6 minutes.

I just ran my Thorfire TK05 in Sunset, it dimmed in barely noticeable steps until just over one hour and then shut off.

Started at approximately the top of the 7135 level.

In my light, I can tell one leg is broken off because the 4 holes do not look identical. 3 of them look the same, but the 4th looks noticeably different.

Beware that even if one looks completely different, you can still have optic without any broken leg. My optic is fine and one hole looks different. That is because one leg is dirty - it’s bottom part is slightly covered by excess thermal paste. So, you will never know until you take it apart

can one simply unscrew the bezel and have a better look? I don’t want to break anything! I should and probably will just leave it alone, but am curious.

If you don’t want to risk breaking anything dont bother. There is always a possibility you introduce dirt or mess up a LED or component when re-tightening.

When I took mine off some bits of plastic/silicone/glue or something showed up that I had to clean off the aux board and I felt it moving around when I unscrewed the bezel. I cleaned it off and cant notice anything damaged but who knows. Bottom line, I wouldn’t bother if you would be upset if something broke. In my case I cant leave well enough alone and would have just modded it had I broke it.

7 White Flat’s contactcr? lol

THANK YOU for the advice. I will leave it be!

I have promised myself I will leave this one alone, don’t know if I can keep that promise if the optic is improperly installed. Will just have to wait and see, I think it may have arrived in the States but I still don’t have a definitive arrival date…

If there were other choices of optics or it supported a larger domed LED I would buy a second one for sure. There is very little room to improve/mod this one (which makes me a little sad cause half the fun for me is modding to make my own unique version)

Make a switch cover that slides backwards to reveal the switch and while sliding backwards it also lifts up a lens cover!

You know you want to!

Sunset mode finally turned off, all is well in the camp.

contactcr, try modding the E07 with larger wires, maybe check to see if the FET can be swapped for a slightly better one… there could be some lumens in there hiding somewhere.

Nitecore managed 10,000 with a 21700

And that relates to this 7 emitter FireFlies light, how?

So far I’ve seen reports of 7500 lumens using the XP-L HI in this E07, I just thought it’d be interesting to find what FireFlies missed. It’s, well, kinda what I do…

Edit: Since I’m going to try not to open this one up, I thought contactcr might want to find those poor lost little lumens in my stead.

… or try a driver and emitter swap. You know you want to replace those tiny little emitters with seven XHP 70.2. Perhaps you can be the first in the world to do so! :smiling_imp:

That TM10K looks pretty nice. 10,000 lumens from one 21700!!! … even if it can only sustain it for 7 seconds. Nitecore must’ve used a boost driver since they’re doing it with 6x XHP35.

However, the E07 does have a lot of advantages. It’s less than 1/4 of the price of the TM10K. And it has a replaceable cell.
