Needed: Single mode 3 amp driver no LVP

I am modding a Surefire L5 and need a single mode 3 amp driver with no LVP protection due to the dual stage tail cap.

Thanks!

17mm?

Get a plain ol’ 2.8A 105C/105D and lobotomise it. Take the enable pins (all common) and crowbar that to the (+) end of the µC.

Always on, always 2.8A, no LVP, no modes, no nuttin’.

Oh yeh, think you can do a simple solder-bridge on the spring-side of the driver, too. Would have to doublecheck to make sure, but…

There are also ready made boards with 8× 7135 only, without the MCU.
Thought Fasttech had them, but can’t find it there.

Those I’ve got (from FT) are only 20mm, and only go up to… 1.4A? Would have to piggyback the 7135s to get to 8.

Aha, they do have a 17mm donk, but yeah, only good to 1.4A. The contact side is bare.

Ohhhhh yeah, that’s what I’ve used in an old crappy C8 clone with an XP-E2.

Nice tight beam with the smaller emitter, not pushing the LED to incandescence, either.

I guess it was KD:

Crazy thick PCB though, seems like 2 on top of eachother.
Not cheap either.

Hmmm… I’ll look further.
I swear i have seen 105 drivers with only 7135’s on them.

You could stack 4× 7135 on top of them.

Ummm, yeah, that’s what I meant by “Would have to piggyback the 7135s to get to 8.”.

Thanks guys! You’re fast on the answers.

Yep, we’re wonderful.
