LuminTop EDC05 AA(14500) Flashlight

I doubt it would be leftover old stock seeing as everyone was sold out of them. What is in stock now should be the properly working model. I got one. Works just fine.

That’s why I said MAY get you old stock. Glad yours is working well, hopefully with 14500 batteries also. Sounds like you just got it, and if it’s been OOS everywhere, then it’s likely from the new batch that supposedly has the problems solved, if other stores are receiving them before Amazon does. I emailed Lumintop for some clarification regarding the driver issue and am waiting to hear back from from them.

Are there other things to consider?

Regulator IN/OUT differential loading for one thing. depending on the requirements for the LED whatever battery (14500 or AA) comes closest to giving the emitter what it wants, that would be the battery that the regulator would like the best. The lower the In/Out differential voltage, the more efficient power transfer from the battery through the regulator and on to the emitter.

Assume that an AA stores the same amount of the 14500. Wattage being wattage, the 14500, being more than twice the voltage of the AA, will provide a similar amount of power, but at less than half the current of the AA. Less current = less heat = greater efficiency.

I’m not disputing your data. What I am saying is that there are electronics in between the battery and emitter, the electronics are not 100% efficient, and those losses should be factored into battery life calculations.

Cheers

Hello, I was looking at this flashlight for edc, since there are no ut01 safe 100%
Are there still defective units in edc05 stock?
those of BG and GB are those with problems solved?

Anyone aware of a diffuser for this ?

The picture for the EDC05 in the original post appears to show it uses an XPL-Hi LED.

However, I just ordered an EDC05 and it comes with XPL-HD LED.

Are there different variations of the EDC05?

Also, is there some way of checking that the EDC05 uses the new/fixed driver that won’t develop the “break contact to turn on issue” that plagues the UTorch UT01?

Hello, the present EDC05 are all utilizes XPL HD LED, and those are all using the new fixed driver.

I will be receiving an Edc05 from Banggood in the next 5 or 6 days. Planning to post a image of the led. I have two NW copies with the original XPL-HI emitters.

Received the new flashlight today. The tint is much cooler than the HI emitter. I have not had any issues with the original version of this light.

This would be good to know, if anyone has an answer to it.

Found a hat of sorts.

The diffuser that came with my Wuben E05.

Does updated version have glued bezel/driver?

I bought a EDC05 and it had a nasty greenish tint to the beam. Did anyone else notice a greenish tint?

Mine has a slight green tint.

My new Edc05 unscrews into three pieces just like my old ones.

What three pieces? Head, battery tube, tail?

Is it easy to swap emitter or is there some kind of thread locker?

It unscrews into head, battery tube, tail. Sorry but I have no idea how to take the head apart.

Thank you

Thanks for the reply!
