Fireflies E07 preview

Got shipping notice dec 11. Received on Jan 9th… 29 days.

Just for info, ff said my first E07 was shipped out Dec 10. Still doesn't show up with tracking and still missing in action.

Second E07 was shipped out Dec-30 and today tracking shows it has arrived at Canada Customs for further review. If I'm lucky, I may get at least one of them before the end of this month.

Great review! Deserves its own thread. Thank you

It has but nobody ever watches them!

I love your reviews. Definitely worth subscribing to! :+1:

I love your videos.

But my pocket is not as happy

That was a masterpiece of a video. Thank you for your time and creativity and for not only showing the beam but the comparisons too. Really great!

Cheers, too kind.

I liked the video and awesome soundtrack…pretty cool! :+1:

Just Purchased:

Fireflies E07 7x SST20/Nichia/XPL HI 6900LM 21700 Flashlight With Anduril UI Black / SST20 5000K NW / Purple Aux LED.

Got my E07 today, amidst some rushing around… Looks beautifully made, the fins are much much deeper than I realized and they actually left a solid bit between the fins in back for the lanyard to attach to, very neat! This one is very precisely made, fits a 30T but doesn’t actually like a 30T… the 5000K SST-20’s go blue on it freshly charged. :frowning:

This one also has the broken off leg on the optic. Seems so very strange for the light to be so well made and yet messed up on assembly. I honestly don’t see that it impacts the actual use of the light though, beam profile looks really good except for the tint shift of the 20’s, I don’t care for the color of the light when in lower modes. Really nice at the top of the ramp and at full Turbo though. I’m using a 20700 Efest in it to good effect, so far.

The purple Aux LED’s are mesmerizing, just gotta love em! My switch LED’s are aligned perfectly, I don’t normally pay that much attention but it does look nice with the alignment done just so.

Alas, I will almost undoubtedly go inside. My inner OCD will force me to put the screw where it belongs. And the emitters will just have to be changed. The odd lemongrass look of the tint at lower levels is more than I can abide.

If a new optic were available I’d certainly buy it. Fireflies? Please make the optics available for replacement. Too many broken legs, I personally don’t mind buying a new one, wouldn’t ask for it to be replaced on warranty or anything, but I don’t really want to jump through a lot of hoops ordering it from Dino or something either.

Overall, a very neat light that is muchly enjoyable. A win even with a few little hiccups…

Has anyone found a suitable diffuser yet? I think it would be great while using the candle mode and even lightning mode.

That’s pretty much the same as I felt about the SST-20 4000K 95CRI emitters. At the power levels I actually use, it looked weirdly yellow and green and I didn’t like it. Lemongrass is a nicely fitting term there. The higher modes were okay, but I don’t have much use for those.

I got lucky with the other things though. The screws are in the right places, the optic is intact, I got a nice XP-L HI 5000K tint, and it has no issues aside from some sharp fins.

I received the same light: SST-20 4000K 95CRI. I have looked everywhere and I can’t find the weirdly yellow or green? I was actually looking forward to the green tint. Anyone else?

On lower modes they are a little greenish. I used a filter over my SST20s for that reason. On full blast, they have a pinkish Nichia R9080 quality to them with the filter.

I’ve also gotten a Fireflies E07 (Nichia 219B) via Neal’s.

But seems like Fireflies quality control still has a lot to do.

The button LED (the 2 that are always on when the battery is inserted) — now one of them doesn’t light up anymore. I’ve not used the flashlight much — it did work when I first received the flashlight, but now it just mysteriously doesn’t light up anymore. It’s a minor thing, but still…

(any idea how that non-lighting button can be fixed? just doesn’t look quite right with one lighted)

As mentioned by others, the heat sink fins (E07 grey) have relatively sharp edges (which can hurt the skin when sliding my hands over that part).
I read that the later clear/silver anodized has already slightly chamfered fins, so that’s at least a good sign that they know about this issue and have attempted to correct it.

Also mentioned by others, the rubber button switch feels “mushy” to click (unlike the Emisar D4/D4S, where the rubber button is a good click) — I hope they fix this next time, it just doesn’t feel as good when clicking the button…

(My E07 bezel is not glued and easily removable — is this by default, or maybe mine is an earlier production batch?)

As others mentioned, one of the legs in the optic is broken off…

The reason being there is a screw in that position of the board, so which is likely the reason why they had to cut off one leg to make the optic fit.

And one more thing - it will dent the top of the 21700 battery (I’m using a Liitokala Lii-40A), and see what it does to the battery:

what was previously nice flat top…

becomes dented top…

However, overall I’m starting to like this E07 flashlight, the size may be slightly heavier than say the Convoy S2+/Astrolux S1, but is not too much bigger. It is heavier though, due to the mass for heat sinking and the bigger 21700 battery. I was actually somewhat surprised by its size when I first received it — I had thought it would be bigger than the Emisar D4S, but as it is, it’s just comparable in size to the D4S (E07 is slightly taller, but slightly slimmer and more “curvy” and good to hold in the hands).

It requires some tape inside for a good fit but……

I’m very happy with my Naturehike diffuser:

Not beautiful and not cheap for what it is but lightweight and very universal.

Do you have any 5D or 219B 9080 lights? If so, compare it side by side with the SST-20 4000k and you will realize how green it is. I thought the tint on my SST-20 4000k looked pretty good on turbo until I compared it.
