Fireflies E07 preview

Samsung 40T or Sony VTC6A if you dont mind spending $15 for a battery

40T should be better than VTC6A I think. The 40T is a larger cell.

It’s confusing but the VTC6A is sold in 21700 size by mostly rewrappers and is nearly the same as 40T in capacity and output.

Shipping appears to be much improved for E07 (shipped China E-packet) vs my PL47 (shipped registered post).

Both PL47 and E07 ordered directly from FF with FREE shipping and freeme’s discount code.

E07 ordered 1/6/19, shipped 1/9/19, delivered today 1/15/19. More details to follow.

So, y’all ready?

With a Samsung 30T, not quite fresh off the charger, my E07 now makes 9,349.5 lumens at start. What? I didn’t change much… :stuck_out_tongue:

I wonder if the 50e would make a decent trade off? Extra 1000 mah but how much of a lumen loss vs 40t?

say it !

:D

WOW!!!

What did you change?

My guess: new FET, copper tail + bypass, sliced XP-L2 or sliced LH351D? Not sure if those will fit with their domes.

When I bought the clear ano E07, SST-20’s were a base price… no premium mark-up. I didn’t know what they would do or how they would look so I got it that way. Then when I put the 30T in it yesterday afternoon and saw them go blue, I knew they weren’t going to be staying. With the thermal stepdown reset, you could actually see the stepdown in the color of the beam, it warmed to the lemongrass color as it went down. Nope, couldn’t do that.

So this afternoon, when the mailman rang the doorbell, I welcomed home 30 Samsung LH351D in the W6 power bin at 5000K. Now, these babies make it right! Nice even tint from moon to Turbo, albeit a larger hot spot. At just under $2 each when ordering in a quantity over 20, well, it just made sense.

Charged up the 30T, tested low lumens at 0.05175 and Turbo at 9246 lumens at start, at 20 seconds it stepped down but was making 8452.5 lumens. Such a nice creamy white tint, I do believe the W6 5000K LH351D is my favorite emitter.

I didn’t change anything else. Well, except for thermal paste. Seems mine had very little to no thermal paste… the copper MCPCB came out dry and untouched by anything. Not so anymore.

Still pretty cool to the touch at 20 seconds?

how much lower output would those have:

found a datasheet...

25% less

So the optic fits that large of an emitter without risk of shearing them off?

When I receive my units, I’ll be able to test that. I am expecting an E07 Nichia 219B, an E07 XPL Hi 4000K, a 40T and a 50E. I will only have my phone to measure the output though.

Did anyone measure the output of the SST-20 6500K option?
Manufacturer rating of 4500 Lumens seem kinda low when the the XPL-Hi 6500 is rated (and can do) 6900. That would be ~35% less output.

In comparison: Emisar rates the D4s with XPL-Hi 6500K with 4300 lumens, the SST-20 6500K with 4200 lumens. That’s only ~2.3% less output.

Something is off(?)

Wait what? Where did you buy those emitters and did you measure the trow compared to the sst-20 as well at turbo? Does the higher output make up for a less focussed beam?

The SST-20’s are small dies, which is why they tend to be more throwy in an optic than a larger die. The LH351D has a larger die surface, so yes of course it has a larger hot spot. Totally unrealistic to expect a 10mm TIR to actually produce throw. 7 of them don’t tighten a beam, but make it even larger.

As an aside, did you know that the DQG Tiny 7 emitter 26650 light uses an optic that seems to match this one’s? But the DQG uses a 3 legged pattern instead of 4, so the holes in the pcb don’t line up. Or, not that I can tell from the outside, will remove the stock one and see if the DQG one fits in the E07…

Edit: The DQG optic doesn’t fit. The TIR’s match but the legs are not on the same circumference layout… they ALMOST fit 2 optic holes and one screw hole but not quite.

Your E07 is a 3 legged pattern too :zipper_mouth_face:

Couldn’t help myself, just nickname your E07 tripod. You know, cause it’s such a good fill light…
