Ti-mo

Is the body of that light going to look something like this?

Yes, similar to that but not nearly as nice. The twist is… well… less twisty and as I mentioned in the OP one side doesn’t show any copper. Pic with one of the bars for reference.

My brother has a bead blaster. Shall I spray the ti ?

I was going to do this but am in 2 minds about it now.

I wasn’t happy with the switch retaining ring so I made that again today. It makes the switch that little bit harder to press.

Before

after

After that I assembled it with orings in place to check for water tightness in my water feature in the backyard. I’m not 100% on the bezel orings and might make some adjustment there but it otherwise survived the dunking without ingress. Of course, tried for a glamour shot…. but you know …. :person_facepalming:

Do you still have my address?

Looks great :+1:

Every bit as desirable as a Tain and then some. :+1:

Oh, you want that spare pocket clip back?

Thanks buddy

That’s kind of you to say but I’m not in the same league.

It’s a pity the layering can’t be seen all the way around. I really like the look of it

Outstanding Pink! Not in the same league? Of course not, you’ve created a new one! Tremendous amount of detail work, jealous as all get out over here…

I have a short bar of Mokume Gane and a short bare of Timascus, haven’t decided exactly what to do with them. Won’t be anywhere near what you’ve achieved with this one I know…

I think me and Steve are going to drink some brewskies and beat ourselves up over how we fail…

I wouldn’t abrasive blast the Ti.
I would complain to the seller bout the uniformity of the pattern. I know Mokume ain’t cheap. Might get a replacement for another build.

It still is a work of art. Love it…

 :+1:

Quite a compliment, thanks Dale.

@vwpieces Maybe I wasn’t clear enough in OP, I didn’t pay for this section of mokume.

Generally speaking this size of light isn’t really my preference. I wanted to use this as a ‘test piece’ to see how it machined etc… once I picked the internals (driver, switch, reflector) I got to making and couldn’t stop.

I may or may not have read the details, it was 5 days ago. :innocent:
But I prolly got distracted by the pictures and didn’t read much else. I do remember most of the pics… funny how the (My) brain works. Bad with names but I’ll remember many little details about your car. Words… not so much.

And FWIW, I Just read the OP and you were clear on getting the end piece free. Figured I will tell ya that before I forget what I read. I might need a reminder in a few days though.

No worries. I do a bit of skimming as well. Skimming a picture is a lot easier and faster than reading someone’s literary account of a situation. Hence I like to add pics. And I like it when others shows lots of pics. ……. a thousand words :star:

Hmm, timascus is a lot harder than mokume but it needs to be heat treated to show it’s colours right? ……and those colours can be sanded back to bare ti if not done right the first time. I would like to make some kind of edc with timascus but I get the impression the colour would start rubbing off, kinda like stonewashed ti. Am I correct in assuming this?

We all have failures but I’m not sure which fails you might be referring to here? You two are pretty awesome in my book

Ok. So the material was free. So I only get to pay postage correct?

See? Steve totally fails at being a comedian! :stuck_out_tongue:

Steve, materials are free but labor is $100hr and it took 12 hours to perfect this light. Add in the overnight insured shipping and you’ve walked right into a $1500 invoice. (Don’t worry though, he’ll put the invoice in the overnight package and only bill an additional $75 handling fee for allowing monthly payout… )

Thanks Dale. I understand now why I dont have any money.

Holy smokes! :open_mouth: 1500 bucks! I’m going to put it in an overnight bag right now. :email: Thanks for setting me straight Dale. You’re a good man Steve, broke but a good man :innocent:
