Yep been there done that, just not with my Q8 yet.
Tell her it was a ’highly scientific’ drop test. And that you were ‘taking one for the team’ by preforming it.
That probably won’t fly of course…… but maybe the genius of the story will take the edge off her dismay. 
she’s gone for the weekend, so hopefully I won’t have to tell her anything.

I have a few proving grounds around the state and finally took both my Sofirn Q8 and D4 w/XPl hi to the hills and valleys with big oaks. In stock form, the Q8 is amazing at output and throw! I can't imagine what Dale's upgrades would do to it! I know many have already experienced this. I'm now just about at the 'giggle' reaction output level!
I thought I would post this here as a few folks mentioned wanting to wait for a deal on the Q8.

Donno if this is appropriate here, but having recently acquired a Q8, I believe
Sofirn and BLF should consider having a re-charging plug onboard the Q8.
Eliminating disassembly to charge the batteries would be a great plus, with
Less wear and tear to boot.
A quick and dirty convenience, 
with a stellar light. 
You can have that with the SP36

Just a quick note. Nkresho put some xhp50.2 in his Q8 and got about 16k lumen. Crazy.
The new 3v version 50.2 seems to work well in the Q8.

Good news Barry. I myself have become a Anduril fan and have been tweaking it and loading it on Q8's. I've made some tweaks, like adding voltage calibration. It calibrates the same way as temperature calibration works. We have found variations of voltage readings from unit to unit.
Can you tell me if the driver is still the same? Is it a new design, using the Atmel 1634?
The statement: Integrated power indicator in side switch indicates remaining battery power
Indicates something changed, perhaps? How does that work, exactly?
If the driver was redesigned to using the 1634 MCU, then using an external voltage divider circuit would work much better -- it's more accurate unit to unit.
