Fireflies E07 preview

When in Lockout mode, I noticed that sometimes the auxiliary LED stay on, sometimes they are off, and sometimes they blink slowly (short duration on, long duration off). Sometimes, the pattern even changes without quitting the lockout mode: pressing the switch once to enable the temporary moonlight can alter the pattern; but not always. Has anyone found out what determines the pattern in a reproducible way?

[Edit] Seems that if the auxiliary LEDs turn off after a temporary moonlight in lockout, three fast clicks will re-enable the auxiliary slow blinking. After a few seconds, it turned on permanently again… Except it turned of after a moonlight again, and then permanently on again after a few seconds without any clicks. Weird.

The pattern of the Aux LED’s is dialed in through clicks of the switch button. If they change and you haven’t changed them, there is a problem.

3 clicks while locked out will cycle through the aux LED modes. Like Dale said, if that happens when you arent pressing anything then

Where can I find the instructions on how to alter the pattern? Maybe I’m randomly doing the procedure.

[Edit] Oh, I see. Thanks. So it’s 3 fast clicks while in lockout and it cycles through Off/On/Blinking, right? Maybe I was just using moonlight with 3 or more fast clicks and altering the setting by mistake.

I would imagine that to the be case koubak, running through the momentary press to fire up moon mode too quickly will be counted as clicks to change the Auxiliaries.

Yes, that was it I think. Thanks a lot. I was just using the Andúril UI diagram and I missed the detailed information. For reference:

Unfortunately I don’t think there is a high and low mode on the E07, and auxiliary LED intensity seems to be set just with the potentiometers. If there’s a way to force the low voltage LEDs with Andúril, please shout here. :o

it’s only via the pots. That’s how the aux board was designed. If I recall this gives the ability to even out the intensity when using multiple colors (via the pots), have special low voltage signal, etc at the expense of using the MCU to just pwm the brightness.

Ok, my new 40t from imr batteries arrived today and they are very different. The 40t from fireflies has different writing, ring around the negative, and is actually longer :person_facepalming: im doing a few tests on my opus charger to see what I see.

I'd love to know what make the fireflies 40T fakes are. That would help me decide if I should keep them or not.

It doesn’t PWM the aux LEDs. It could, but that would greatly increase the amount of power used. The MCU’s PWM functions use more power than the aux LEDs do, so it’s counterproductive to dim them via PWM. Instead, it dims them only by adding and removing a passive resistor, giving two different brightness levels. But that method doesn’t work on the aux LED boards Fireflies uses, so it is limited to only one brightness.

I never opened a paypal dispute, actually never have with anyone as I don't know how to do it, but I did email fireflies about it and never got a reply except for this ....

I also got a fake Samsung with my E07. Fireflies offered me a $10 refund which i refused, I want a full refund for the battery but no more reply from Fireflies after that. I am considering opening a Paypal dispute if I dont get a reply soon.

Just got an order in today from Neal, and he threw in some nice treats:

More ff shots:

The E07 is gorgeous in clear. I ordered the plain X9 but he shipped me the titanium tube version (well, with the plain tube as backup) -- I guess I won't send it back . This is my first E07 I've seen, and I know there's been issues posted, but I'm even wow'ed by it. The tint and beam is outstanding! I'm not sure of the LED's it shipped with but appear to be 4000K or 5000K SST-20's.

The X9 is CW SST-40's but is a powerhouse (maybe ~5000 lumens) and outweighs the E07, both with cells installed.

I agree.

The clear E07 is one of the most beautiful lights ever.

You’re welcome.

I was surprised when so many people chimed in on my suggestion to go clear ano, didn’t really plan to buy an E07 but when they actually DID the clear I kinda had to and am very pleased that I did. They did a really good job with it, very nice light. And Lexel’s Aux board is a work of art in and of itself! I only wish the optic didn’t have the frosted blank area so the fancy schmancy PCB would show through!

Those that have the clear anno version… does the tailcap lock out reliably like the regular anno versions? I’ve had clear anno lights before that cant be reliably locked out because the anno in the threads is not very good…

Any word on these special editions I’ve been hearing about? I love my E07 enough that I want another, but will wait for a stainless or titanium option.

Ahh, ok, didn't follow the history - thanx Dale!!, but dang this is a nice light!

Firelight2 - how'd you get yours? I don't see these listed for sale yet?

I really like the E07. It’s not my #1 favorite light, but it’s definitely in the top 5… and that’s not an easy list to get on.
