I'm new on this forum but was reading on it for some time.
Because my PrincetonTec tec40, (a flashlight with regular bulb and 4xAA that i've been using for years) stopped working, I was looking for something else.
So than I bought this light because i wanted to try a led flaslight and it didn't seem expansive at all:
I'm surprised in a positive way by it's manufacturing quality and size, downside for me are the flash modes I don't like.
Now this light is much, much better than my old one. But interested in the led technology I went to do some research and came upon this site.
Reading some threads here I think this light puts out maybe 300-400 lumens, with a tailcap reading of 0.7a max. Does anyone has any experience with this particular light?
I've read about upgrading the XML with a driver drop-in that can output to 800-900 lumens. Is this possible for this light also, or are the batteries not up to that task? Can I get rid of the flash modes by upgrading it at the same time?
BTW; I would prefer buying from ebay, as I'm located in Europe.
Your batteries & charger indeed aren't any good.. Get a Xtar WP2 II ($18, dual-bay) or Xtar MP1S ($10, single-bay) and pair of good batteries - e.g. Hi-Max 2600mAh ($19 for pair), Solarforce 2400mAh ($14 for pair). Bad charger + bad battery eventually can result in either fire or explosion.. so be aware of that.
Those batteries are unprotected, are you sure you want to deal with unprotected batteries? I've heard that people like that charger, but I would choose a more "standard" type charger myself like the Xtar WP2 II mentioned above. I don't really see a good choice for a "protected" battery from Int'l Outdoor.
That charger from ML-102 charger is good. Make sure the power supply is good, the one from the Ipad for example (not the fakes).
For what Shadowww says, yes true but the Redislast and IOS have the same capacity at 3A down to 3.4V as the Xtar 2600.
I would choose this graph as a reference down to 3.2V due to intense heat the Vf of the LED will drop from 3.35V anyway. And lower draws than 3Amps, 3.2V is ok.
