Buyer Beware: "Gift" Items on Banggood.com

Thank you Serlite for bringing this to our attention.

Although good advice, in practice there is no time to react.

I just finished a live chat with banggood support, long story short:

-They cannot put an order on ‘hold’ or ‘do not ship’ or ‘do not split’ status.

- The system will automatically split and ship after a few days, no way around it.

  • No refund for gift items.

The conversation ended with the cancellation of my order. (sadly, as no other viable option was provided)

Well, sounds like it is time for our affiliate selling members here of BLF to earn their keep and get to the bottom of this.
They obviously communicate directly with BangGood on a daily basis and should have some pull.
Right now one of the Sale threads mentions free gifts from BangGood so this is definitely relevant.

I appreciate their deals, they appreciate my money, so it just seems fair that they help with this problem.
BangGood pulls a lot of money from this website and its members so it in their best interest to explain and rectify this problem.

What say you Fin17, M4D M4X, freeme and others?
Please help.

not customer friendly shopping site! banggood doing a lot of things similar this. for example your order is back order but still continues selling. another problem their warranty policy. i bought 16340 batteries from banggond 1200mAh! ofcourse i did not except 1200 but 500mAh will be enough for the price. but they are only under 180mAh i let them know this problem. they told me this ;
And for your order 49800598,so sorry to tell you that this item 991159 is out of warranty, because your order is shipped on 2018-06-02. Here is our policy: Help Center

This sounds just bad. i thought first when i saw it why bother with gifts? keep good prices with coupons etc and let us decide what we want or not… like blf q8 promo with a laser pointer… reallybad idea since many countries can stop the package if the see its a laser so to me thats just not good to mix like that…they will only get more upset customers when they dont have enough gifts in stock if they write about it… just remove it…

I’m pretty sure i’d get my money back for the original order from Paypal. after all, it’s just an incomplete / not as ordered item when they do that.

* This is only about the EU warehouse gift campain, BLF A6 or TG06S plus Cometa:*

If I were in charge to run such a gift capaign for different country warehouses I would not hold sales until the goods reportedly arrived at the warehouse.
I would start selling a few days after I shipped them from the Chinese main warehouse.
Especially if I wanted to avoid Chinese New Year’s delay, which may be one main reason to start the country campaign.

If shipping the container from China to the country warehouse takes longer than usual (China to other country. These days.) I would simply mark all items as ‘Back Order’ and everybody has a wait to few more days. Sounds familiar?

This is not completely solid business (as the buyer would expect the goods to be on stock for the fast delivery promised) - but hey, this is Banggood.
.

I am not going to defend anybody. Just let’s stay with the facts:

  1. A chinese shop has not shipped immediately. OMG.
  2. There is one single report (Serlite) about his order from a different campaign from the China warehouse gone wrong. First time order btw.
  3. Johm has voluntarily cancelled his order before shipping.
  4. Nothing else happened. No serial crime until now. Don’t Panic.

Everyone except Serlite may wait a few days before shouting “Scam” at Chinese Embassies.

I was rather fortunate I guess, I actually got 1 with a Battery.

Coupla years ago I placed an order with banggood and tried to cancel it 15 minutes later and was told it could not be cancelled because it had already been shipped.
That’s fast even for banger ; I still order from them every once in a while though; just for defacets and

I’m in the same position :frowning:

Me too x2

  • ‘back order’ for black convoy L2 for 2/3 price, while it’s still available at higher price

I also got an e-mail for the L2 (paid US$22.08) with XPL HI. My options are: waiting, cancel the order or choose to ship the L2 host only.
What I can see, the XML 7a, 5b and 4c are still available. But xpl’s are all not available (Processing time 18 days).

I agree that people should keep a measured response to this incident - it’s really possible (probable, I imagine) I was one of the unlucky few who got cut out when the stock ran out, and everyone else will still be getting their gift orders. The intent of this post was to raise awareness about this risk and see if anyone else had a similar experience, in case more people get burned as Banggood.com works through these orders.

Yep, they’ve learned a new trick in Big China Store.
Got burned that way by an AliE flashlight store recently on an 11/11 sale order. The light I ordered was
“lost in shipping” then “defective” then “out of stock” while they continued selling the full price product.

Same here

i will point them to this thread after CNY

Thanks, that would be a great help! My chat with their customer support gave me the impression that they didn’t really appreciate just how badly things can go if you mix their promotional gifts campaign with their (seemingly frequent?) practice of overselling products.

Similar complaint, I ordered a S2 with a code I think and got a good deal on it. About 3 days later a BG email pops up. I didn’t see it until the next day. It said item out of stock, Click the link in the email, to decide your choices of what you want to do. I click the link but gives a error. I noticed at the bottom it says link only good for 24hrs.
Well crap, I missed the link. I was just going to cancel the order, I don’t want to have to wait not knowing when it maybe back in stock.

I did the chat thing with BG and they said item would be in stock in 1 to 2 days. I said well I’ll just wait then, no problem. I told them “Well, take down the in stock notification on your site if it’s not in stock, you got to do better than this”. BG replied something about can’t change item status on site and be in stock in 1 to 2 days, not to worry. I kind of thought “what”. I said “thanks and have a good day”. Sure enough I got a email item had shipped the next day. But I see they are not going to keep up with something being in stock. If they can no longer get a item you might see the “out of stock” unless they don’t know yet they can’t get anymore……
I know fasttech use to do the same thing. Out of stock on a in stock item. :person_facepalming:
Just my thought’s

Pretty much all of the China shops drop ship items directly to you from their source of the week.
Did you ever notice the return address is never the same when you get packages. It’s hard to read being mostly written in Chinese but rarely are they sent from
“The Mothership”

As far as bogus “in stock” status when ordering that too has been done since the dawn of mail order.
Old Timers here will remember 42nd St Photo from New York back in the day (1970’s) as always playing that game, and also only sending the actual main electronics part for said unbelievable price and then ding you for the accessories that would be included from the manufacturer. I.E power supply, cases, extra lenses on some cameras.
And their time honored practice of selling Gray Market goods with no valid US warranty.
Those guys were brutal and there were very few laws to protect consumers in that day and age, usually you sent them a money order or check and they waited long enough that you would be unable to stop payment on the checks.

Ship times? 6 to 8 weeks and they used all of that time. Learned real quick not to buy from them and their ilk.
Later,

Keith

P.S. then there was Crazy Eddies, woo don’t even want to go there. You want to return for cash?, that’s a beat down, for real too.

They just took my L2 order 2 days ago . Same deal. No mention of being out of stock but has not shipped either.

i got an answer from my affiliate manager.

he is very sorry for the bug that allows to place orders when the gift is out of stock
(that "gift sale" was an idea of the sales department to move old stock if i understood him correctly)

as an excuse he offers a 45% discount on the next flashlight you buy within the next 180 days

just PM me the ordernumber of the order with the "missing" gift and the link to the flashlight (possibly cells and chargers can be chosen too) you want
i forward that to banggood and they set a code for you .
