If Money Was No Problem, Where Would You Choose To Live?

If money was no problem, I would still be living where I live in Quebec.

I would just use my money to buy solar panels, build a large battery bank, fund BLF, and do some other interesting stuff.

Anywhere with good rail transport, so I could travel around on trains without much worry. Sweden is one such place, maybe Germany (family comes from there) or Russia.

I have always wanted to travel by train. If money was unlimited I would be a gypsy most of they time with a few home bases scattered around the world.

I am not a big fan of cold weather. Makes me grumpy. I looked into moving to Arizona. Never really spent any time there but I like how the state is run. I couldn’t live in any oppressive states. I like the middle of nowhere. The less people around the better. Not because I dislike people in any way, I just prefer people not being in my business or peoples windows 6 feet from mine. Subdivisions are not my friends. Big cities even less. I don’t like a homeowners association telling me what I can and cannot do in with my home. Decent enough public schools are still important as I still have 2 in school.

So I guess warm with nobody to bother me would be ideal. So I reckon a pretty rural area is my thing. My wife loves subdivisions and being closer to everything. That is fine, I still visit her on the weekends.

Mom lives in Tijeras…since 1971, it was rough and tumble back then, not many people living where she lived then, it’s quite different now. Been there quite a few times thru the years, for weeks at a time visiting, site seeing, touring, hunting……beautiful country, nice to visit.

If money was no object I’d live in a different high-end hotel throughout the world as the mood strikes me. Flying there of course on my private 747

I just had a craving for some sopapillas.

with Honey……

Båstad, Skåne, Sweden

London Paris New York Båstad was a bumper sticker I saw a lot as a kid.

Lucerne, Switzerland. Postcard perfect when I visited there. Stunning in every way. Google it if you are bored.

Anywhere where I can shine my lights without distributing neighbors. Prefer ranch.

Wellp, a neighbor here, a neighbor there… they all add up.

Just look for BLF members as neighbor’s! Maybe we should start our own neighborhood.

Interesting thread

I live in Switzerland (close to Luzern) and I love it here.
Civilised people, very calm (is not for everyone), expensive and wonderful landscapes.

If you like cycling or hiking this is heaven.

Still, sooo many places to visit…
In my “places to go” list is Boulder (Colorado) and somewhere lost and quite in Canada.

Cheers!

I would live where I live. In Silesia.
I’ve lived for several years in other places (only within country) and cultural differences meant that I didn’t feel well there. I didn’t feel at home.
So I returned.

Now political situation in the country is literally terrible and month after month this is becoming less and less bearable.
Also I can’t help but notice that moving 400 km west would double my income.

But this is home. And even though I’ve never been as dissatisfied with it as I am now - I’m not moving out yet.

I don’t know what was in the first thread, but I’ll take a stab at it…

What’s with this tyranny of “non-controversy” that has infected every single forum on the internet?

It’s almost as if, by design, people have been systematically muzzled, where certain opinions and subjects that oppose a certain agenda are labeled “crime-think”, and anything arbitrarily labeled “offensive” is relegated to ever-smaller parts of the internet. It’s almost like diversity is not a strength or something…

It’s almost like a certain group of people, an ironically-named “internet defense force”, a propaganda arm of some ‘tribe’, who admittedly employ thousands and have an essentially unlimited budget… it’s like they’ve sought moderator positions at every major discussion forum, or just outright bought and took over each forum.

People have become so brainwashed and pussified and cowed by Marxist political correctness… it has infected everything. And so, our civilization will continue to swirl the toilet as anyone who voices any dissent is silenced and banned everywhere. The truth is no defense.

This forum simply does not “do” politics and/or religion as there is a history of topics sometimes becoming battlegrounds for differing ideology. The forum rules, do clearly state we should avoid divisive subjects. That was not followed… It is actually a pretty good policy. This forum is owned and moderated by one person, no team, no conspiracy. sb56637 is quite fair-minded. I have no connection to him, but do admire his even-handedness.

Anyway, to answer OP’s question.

I’d probably stay in the US, foolish as that might be given the direction we’re headed. We still seem to be the cleanest dirty shirt, so to speak — at least in pockets of the country.
I hate the cold, but the northern part of the country has better demographics. Yet, they also have the most tyranny. Sometimes, civilized is synonymous with gullibility and no balls, it seems.
The southern half of the country has better freedoms, and is more hospitable climate-wise… but the potential for bloody hostilities in a without rule of law scenario is greater here. A financial or economic crash would do it.

So it’s really hard to say. Wherever I decided, I’d want to be close (bike-riding distance) to a town of ~50k. I’d want some neighbors nearby for security (isolation is bad). I’d want to build partially underground for thermal efficiency. I’d want a nice solar set-up and a well. Lots of both pasture and trees. An edible orchard — fruits and nuts and such. A pond.

In sum, I’d want a great deal of self-sufficiency, but other options close at hand. A community, but comprised of people who aren’t violent, low IQ scumbags… but who are also not gullible simps and sheep.

So that pretty much rules out everywhere in the entire world.

Yeah, and the problem is that some people have, well, quite polarized opinions on political subjects, are not willing to be reasonable at all with others, and are not willing to listen to facts and prefer to ramble on.

Back on track now, I’d personally just stay where I live. I personally love Canada, and rather than escaping to a “better” place, I’d rather try and change the environment around me.

Hmmm To ABove.
I thought these threds were for like minded people of ALL casts and denominations. Regardless. To enjoy a common goal.
