Osram Oslon Boost HX

I don’t know enough about ceramics to know that it can not be casted in this way, so I’m with you in this

Asbestos

It would have to be fired at 1000° upwards.
But it might be used here as a filler material (it’s stiff, opaque and doesn’t degrade or outgas :+1: ).

There are ceramic adhesives which are used in bulbs because of low thermal expansion at high temperatures.
Just because it is “ceramic” does not mean it is solid like a rock.
It can be made into epoxies or other stuff.

Interesting. Ceramic powder with some sort of silicate binder.

Any updates on this?

Not available yet.

avnet lists them now with MOQ of 2000, no stock and no price:

LOL if we do a group buy with a 25 piece minimum……

I would not mind buying 25

how would these compare to a flat white and would these work good in a triple LED light with optics?.
thank you.

This is the same thing as the 2mm white flat (CSLPM1.TG) but with a larger thermal pad for better overdriving capability.
There are no MCPCBs for it yet, hopefully LED4power will make some.

Wait, it’s exactly the same otherwise? i can see the single 18650 tube zoomie with a collar putting out 1mcd already…

Yes. Literally the same die just with bigger substrate for better thermals.

You won’t get anywhere near 1mcd in an 18650 size tube light.
Do the math and you’ll see.

So is it also a rectangular die? From the first picture it looks square, unless that was an old picture

It is rectangular, yes, you can see on the datasheet.

TBH I don’t think it’s a viable source.
But it is a source which is a small step towards general availability.

Though now that I think about it - I remember when Hank managed to source a batch of old XP-G2 long after they were unavailable.
From memory - 1000 was sold very quickly with several members buying hundreds each.

Boost HX is likely to stay the throw king for a while so it makes sense to stash them if GB promises a lower price than a store would. Though better bins may appear.

So maybe 2000 is not out of BLF range?

Interesting, this means it should pop up on “normal” sites before long.

Agro, if the Boost HX turns out to be the next throw king, as the hype suggests it will, then 2000 pieces in a BLF group buy would be pretty easy to do for sure.

Assuming we have a suitable MCPCB for it.

If the DTP 4040 fits as well as LED4Power thinks his Q8 board + 4 of these will instantly go in my Q8
