Need decent 18650's for boruit rj-02

I bought a few of these headlamps to gift out. I want something protected and in budget price range. I dont want to give away my prized Panasonics! Just looking for safe cells with decent run times. I anticipate the built in charger being used. I haven’t bought batteries in a few years so I dont know what is recycled junk and what is not.

Thanks

Do you live in the US?

If so, I don’t think you’ll really need a protected cell, since the light always has a micro-USB charging circuit, and protected cells won’t really be needed.

If you want absolute highest capacity, I would get the Samsung 35E:

If you want something for quite a bit cheaper, but with good capacity, I would recommend the Samsung 29E:

Shouldn’t be a problem with 3A and less lights, like the RJ-02.

If you want something even cheaper but with slightly lower capacity, I would be getting the LG M26:

I am not following this. I’m pretty sure the RJ 02 has no LVP .

Ohohohoh, I did not know about that.

Then, this battery would be your best bet:

Not sure about the light having low voltage protection. I would think the charger has built in over charge protection but I’m not sure. Btw,I’m in the USA. Have the shipping laws changed since I bought batteries? Last I heard, batteries were no longer going to be shipped without being sold with a charger, flashlight or something to that effect. Just wondering since I see most people not recommending buying batteries overseas. Or is it because there are lots of fake batteries out there now?

Nah, that’s only for air shipping.

Lithium-ion cells can still be shipped in packs of 4 without any problems by ground in the US/Canada.

So batteries can still be bought overseas if they are shipped via cargo ship?

Yeah, but try to find a seller that will sell in small quantities via cargo ship.

If you want cells, since you seem to live in the US, just buy from a trusted supplier like Illumn/LiionWholesale.

Yes. I believe that makes more sense. Life is too short to use fake cells. Plus, with a 18650 close to my face with a headlamp, I think it would give me more peace of mind knowing I don’t have a tired recycled laptop battery strapped to my head. Lol
