If Money Was No Problem, Where Would You Choose To Live?

Somewhere away from most, but not all; people. Everglades, Montana, maybe Alaska…… Or a combination of all three… depending on season.

…….

A big welcome to BLF Barry Lyndon!! :+1: . :+1:

I think you gonna fit right in here…

I don’t see being a gelding as a virtue.

The idle chatter of women and their tendency toward ‘not rocking the boat’, ‘going along to get along’, phony politeness and pleasant myths… should not supplant cold, hard, uncomfortable truths in any serious discussion forum.

This is how we got to where we are as a society — with certain ‘divisive’ subjects having been carefully ‘socially engineered’ to be considered taboo and off-limits… such that civilization itself has no defenses from the trends, people and agendas which will destroy it. Meanwhile the majority of people - cowardly and dumb as they are - say and do nothing — lest they come off as offensive or impolite or get called bigots or something. Heavens forbid they get banned! That would be the worst!

What’s civil to you — in other words, what’s not allowed to be discussed — might be considered ‘being indoctrinated’ (“He has the PC mind virus!”) to others , or even cowardice, or at worst, aiding and abetting the forces destroying us.

Anyway, decorum is fine and all. I’m in favor of it sometimes. I try to pass out some respect on an as-deserved basis. I don’t believe in being super-rude unnecessarily or majorly-offensive all the time. And yeah, it’s the owner’s site to do what he wants with it, whether he does right or wrong, whether justified or not. I only ask that he embrace free speech, at least in the ‘open topic’ side of the forum, with nothing off-limits except absurd spamming or things that would get the FBI knocking on his door.

I’m going to say what I want, when I want though. Ban me. IDGAF. Happens all the time.

(Also, dude, you don’t allow smoking in your yard? LMFAO).

Thanks. We’ll see how long I last. I don’t go out of my way to cause trouble, or start arguments or anything; but my views are definitely not popular. If they were popular, that means I’d probably be wrong.

Of the three places you listed, and in a worst-case scenario where you’re “basically on your own” (which is just how I judge places after years of reading doom websites and forums):

Everglades: more wild food, but lower quality food. Miami too close (crime central). Great weather except when you’re sweating at midnight trying to sleep. Mosquitoes.

Alaska/Montana: You’d be fighting the cold instead of people. Less food, but an elk or something would be a huge and long-lasting score.

Hard to say which would be more miserable.

I think this is the basic plan going forward though. My educated guess is that inside the shaded areas there will be ‘security’ and an economy. Outside, not.

Your welcome. And hopefully you’ll “last”. I find your views refreshing personally. Interesting theory about the map to… could very well be. Only time will tell.

Key wording for the three places I listed…… Seasons, time of year.

Everglades: Winter time. Not to hot or cold. FORGET Miami… do not even go close IMO. The West side of the Everglades 10,000 Island area on down to Lost Man’s River & on toward Flamingo. About the only people you will see out there are people of like mind. Oh yeah…. fishing is good too……‘reel’ good!

Montana and/or Alaska: Late Spring, Summer, Fall. Weather hopefully not too awful hot in summer…. if it is just go higher. Fishing is great & stay right on to hunt a bit before going back Southeast to winter in the Western Glades…

If a national SHF scenario were to develope while in one place or another…. just stay & deal with either the hot summer or freezing winter, depending on where you are. Either place you will be mostly with people of like mind going it together.

And remember, as Ole’ Hank Jr. sings…… A Country Boy Can Survive
And honestly…… there is a world of truth in that.

Nobody allowed to smoke INSIDE my fenceline.
My Property. MY Rools.

U no Likee. You No Comee. Simple.
Everybody has levels of rools to suit themselves.

Argumentative.
Find others of similar disposition. There are LOTS of levels of discussions.
From mild to Knuckles.

Aggressive Argumentativeness.
Basically shows lack of enough grey matter between the ears
to use anything more than 5 letter words.

And in 46yrs In Aust. I’ve always said. the first day I see frost is the day I permanently move to Darwin. Not yet.

Excellent choice with Darwin, the broken jaw capital of the world!

Wow! I googled “broken jaw capital of the world” and Darwin was at the top of the results, many times over. One story also noted, ” the Northern Territory has the highest level of alcohol consumption in the world.”

Very interesting indeed……. :+1:

Australian city of Darwin named ’broken jaw capital of the world’

The north Australian city of Darwin has won the unenviable title of “broken jaw capital of the world”.

A doctor at the Royal Darwin Hospital said the emergency room dealt with 350 cases of broken jaws and noses each year.

“(This) puts us at about 17 per 10,000 population, which is well above anywhere else in the world,” Dr Mahiban Thomas told the Australian Broadcasting Corporation.

Dr Thomas said the shockingly high rate of broken bones could be attributed to alcohol-related violence in Darwin.

“Only 12 per cent of the trauma patients have not been a victim of an alcohol-related assault,” he said.

Most of the assaults that lead to hospital admission take place outside Darwin’s busy pubs and nightclubs on Thursday and Friday nights.

Darwin has long had a reputation for alcohol abuse and violent crime, and the situation appears to be getting worse.

There were more than 6,000 assaults in the Territory last year, up 18 per cent on 2007 figures.

A report released last year also revealed that the Northern Territory has the highest level of alcohol consumption in the world.

Residents of the territory drink 15 litres of pure alcohol each annually, which is three times the global average, the Menzies School of Health report found.

Only the Irish and Czechs come close to matching Territorians at the bar, both consuming 13 litres each year.

Lots of crocodile dundee wannabees in Darwin .... I used to live there.

How long were you there?? Are you a member of the ’Darwin Broken Jaw Club’??

3 years and yes I got king punched for no reason and came out with a wired jaw for 5 weeks.

:+1: …. Ok…. at least you can speak from experience.

It would look good on a resume too maybe.

Having a jaw wired shut is no fun. Been there, done that, but not due to being punched. Not nearly as exciting but a PITA nonetheless.

“Barry”, do you know what a “ladder” sequence is in the game of Go?

It’s when the opposed players each try to block the other, back and forth, producing a line of stones that runs off to the edge of the board.
It has a name and a rule about stopping the alternation because it’s obviously, uncorrectably pointless to go on with the exchange.

We’re all here together for flashlights. There’s no conspiracy, there’s a shared community of interest focused on what we have in common.

There was always the fear of throwing up, not a good feeling.

Yeah, that would go over well on any resume I enjoyed Darwin and would live there any day over Sydney or Melbourne. High 80's low 90's all year is pretty nice too. They have a wet season but it doesn't always come but when it does, it's fun in its own way.

Average Darwin Temps:

There are several sites that found this out the hard way. I’ve seen great online communities end up like graveyards. I checked out one last year to see if it had recovered and there were a handful of posts that day (less than ten). Pretty sad. Guys on that forum used to get together frequently now it’s dead.

Hmmmmm… Yep, I can see where throwing up with jaws wired shut could be somewhat problematic!! :open_mouth: .

Yeah… the weather in Darwin looks like summer year round. :+1:

I would like to go for free to heaven finally… Or something similar

That is sad… what forum was that, if you don’t mind saying??

I can’t remember who it was, but after the most recent presidential election someone here on BLF changed their avatar to an upside down American Flag. Talk about a blatant bone headed move!! :person_facepalming: :person_facepalming:

I wish I could remember who did that but it escapes me. I do remember that thankfully it did not stay that way for long.

I assume most people have two answers and only put forth one. The perfect place regardless of money, politics or neighbors (based on climate alone), and then one that includes reality.

For the first one, I'd choose Hawaii. I used to live there but it is no longer the paradise as it was when I was younger. Crowded, too many cars (Oahu anyway), crime is going up and other issues.

Adding in politics, neighbors, money and the like...as much as I would miss the ocean, I think northern Arizona would be perfect for me. I would need some more $$ though. 'Thinking Flagstaff.
