1. Convoy S2+. Yes.
2. 18650. Yes.
3. Send him a message in the order to put in an OP reflector instead of a smooth reflector. He’ll do this free of charge.
4. About 750 lumens with 7135*8.
5. Regular white light. No problem with the SST-20.
6. You can set it to 1 mode with Biscotti, which is very nice.
7. Black. Yes.
8. Reliable vendor? Of course. It’s Simon from Convoy.
Contact Simon on his AliExpress page. Ask him to put a biscotti driver in a black light for ya. He probably will. I have heard of others doing this. Pick a emitter that is available to him and I’m sure he can put it in there as well.
Hi.
Look at a C8/C8+ too. much better light at similar price range.
I’ve got a S2 and a S2+. Don’t even have battery’s in them.
In a box with about 18/20 others to give/throw away one day.
I’d do givaway’s, but from AUST to anywhere. Freight would kill it…
For most people C8’s are much harder to carry around as an EDC. So it all depends on what one’s usage and needs are. And one’s definition of better depends on what one wants the light for. I have 5 or so C8’s and about the same number of S2 size lights and I never use the C8’s other than lighting up my walls :sunglasses:
In any case, I’d say just go for broke and pick the x8 option. If you think full blast is too much or spending the battery too fast, you can always set it to a mode group with a lower max. I did that with my M1 and two S2’s and haven’t regretted it - 50% max power is pretty legit already for all my needs.
Word. I never carry my C8 because of that huge head it has, though the tight beam compels me to use it at home a lot. It’s especially good to light up the wall clock on the other side of the living room from the computer and sofa :sunglasses:
Q: Does this light have low voltage protection? I normally use protected cells, but I have some 18650 unprotected leftover form my Vaping days. Always good to use leftover stuff.
Sig and Jack.
Horses for courses. We all different. I’m a 50yr Vegetarian
and can’t stand reality shows etc, on teev.
I find the S2 skinny and slippy on hand. Relax your grip
It’s on the floor.
The large Head on C8 holds it in place.
Later model C8/+ have spread of S2 with much more throw I find.
They have some “shape” to them too.
not just a bit of water pipe with globe on the end.
C8+ a Niice looking torch.
But there again. I think the Imalent 08 a lovely wide spread comfortable to hold torch too. Weird hey?. I got no chance.
Hehe, we’re not THAT alien to each other then :sunglasses: I’m 28, really enjoy vegetarian food for a change of pace, and definitely agree that the C8 line is nice to hold in the hand. With an OP reflector, mine works at any distance thanks to the versatility of Biscotti. The only problem I have with the format is that it doesn’t agree with my trousers’ pockets half the time, which isn’t a problem when the torch doesn’t leave my paw.
I love my C8’s, some hot rods and some stock. Don’t have a Convoy one though. If I have to spend a lot of time carrying it in my hand then for sure the C8 but, if I want to put it in a pocket until it’s needed then the tube type S2+ is a winner. Both great, both have pros and cons. C8, too big for pocket. S2 type, try and find a GOOD pocket clip for them.
I am not vegetarian but I like eating vegetarians, cows are vegetarians, deer are vegetarians. I call it a win win.
Any idea of the throw one might expect from the S2+ SST-20 with 7135*8 and SMO reflector in High mode? This would be important in my purchase decision. Thanks!
Haven’t used SST-20s in any reflector based light myself but they are certainly throwier than the X-PL HI. AFAIK there shouldn’t be anything weird with the reflector in the S2 that affects throw like the issues people were having with Osram flats in the D1S for example.
On that thought: wouldn’t it be better to use an S2 instead of an S2+ with the SST20? The deeper reflector lends itself to throw better than the S2+’s shallow one.
