What did you mod today?

What driver and other changes did you make? I have a larger 6.5” model sitting here to mod

Those seem popular here and decent build quality especially considering the price. Nicron headlamps also seem to be nice candidates for headlamp host. I have their more expensive H30 which I modded. Its well built and stock output is good but UI is horrible (cycle to off). Modded mine to fet+1 and LH351D and it’s a nice throwy heeadlamp (21Kcd at turbo). Could increase throw with xpl-hi or sst-20s or White flat. I broke the driver though because of too much tinkering so now its sitting on my work bench.

(at the moment)

I just made the new face plate to hold the Carclo optics, I believe 10048? Have to check my DigiKey receipts. The beamshot was hardwired into a 5200mAh 3s LiPo running the two XHP35s in parallel so a little over-driven, but I probably could run all 4 with it. Because the optic holder and MCPCB stick out past the original lens height I had to make a face plate with an integrated bezel for each TIR. I decided since I had only 1/2” stuff to make the bezel taller to add to the “projector” effect.

Haven’t decided on a driver yet, since I want to make sure I get one compatible for automotive use. But I want to incorporate either modes or ramping of some sort.

Look here: Q8 modding - #1556 by Wieselflinkpro

Received my black S2+ host and immediately proceeded to give it a bit of heat treatment before transplanting my Luxeon V triple into it. Makes the little hot rod look a bit more gnarly and hot rod-like!

D-C fix should have like 5-10% loss shouldnt it? Sphere never seems to react well when light is diffused at lens

That is worrying since the whole point of a sphere is integration.

I modded an old glass door knob & old pipe into a light .

I assume your setup is probably a bit more refined since you also do bare LEDs. Do you have a regulated light you can try with and without D-C Fix?

I do not own DC-fix. The method I use is frosting the glass with sand paper. But that would not measure the right thing I suppose.

RW, that’s amazing! Nice work! Love it when parts at hand are put to good use.

Thanks , it was a learning experience . Hopefully the next thing will be a little better , I mean my efforts .

Today I have modified Skilhunt H03. Another with the rest. Previously I changed the diode on XP-L HI, now I changed the driver. The choice fell on Emisar (D1). I like the results very much. I have a ramp and a lot of power.

EagleEye X6

4x Luxeon V

Ledil Angie optic

MTN-17DDm

LED4Power spacer + mcpcb

Parts (with the giant hole I drilled in X6 shelf)

Spacer bolt (hollow for wires)

Spacer top side (bolted down)

Originally had everything wired up for a LD-B4 driver but I had issues and abandoned it. Here I demonstrate the art of wire stretchers to keep your mcpcb off your thermal paste while you solder your connections

Abort, bypass this FET and lets go with what we have that works

Moon. Too bright w/ Luxeon V’s

I used two O rings cause i’m not sure the bezel applies enough pressure otherwise. I may try it with one and test heat transfer or try to find thicker glass.

That must have impressive output contactcr! :+1:

Nice mod komeko, did you request the D1 driver from Hank?

Yes, Hank turned out so nice that one of them sold me

This is a very interesting mod Komeko. Can you comment any more on how you did it? Was it an easy driver swap?

Well, the tube is glued, so I used heavy tools. The driver was a bit too big so I polished it a bit. The diode is XP-LHI 3A. MX4 paste. Of course, I set the thermal protection to over 70 degrees Celsius. The turbo withstands 90 seconds which I consider to be a great result, after which it gently goes down. The temperature after 6 minutes is 76 degrees, hot, but it does not bother me. I have the same set of Emisara D4.

Received and modded a new Raspberry Pi 3 B+ today.
Now running libreelec 9 and it couldn’t be any better. Only 31°C while streaming 720p with a copper heatsink and no case.
Love it.

Purchased and fulfilled via Amazon because I had to empty my Entropay cards (they are shutting down, if you have money on Entropay either withdraw it to your bank account or spend it!). Delivered in less than 24 hours without Prime. wow!

I can not believe how much computing power you can get these days for a budget of 35 $US.
