FW3A, a TLF/BLF EDC flashlight - SST-20 available, coupon codes public

Don’t give up just yet, I know some of the fw3a team were pushing lumintop to not glue anything, including the tail cap, which would mean it would come apart…

Lumintop has said they’ll be gluing it but hopefully the pushback will prevent that. We’ll learn what they did when the lights arrive.

So are you saying if it isn’t glued the clip would be reversible?

It looks as though the front/rear thread o.d. is the probably the same, but if they did glue the tailcap that would permanently secure the clip and it could not be removed even if the user did not want it? I’d rather have the option to carry it in my pocket w/o the clip or be able to reverse it for a cap.

Have we a thread about how to do DIY clips?

Clip dimensions from FW3A Proto 1:
Inner diameter: 23.1 mm
Outer diameter: 26.1 mm
Material: 0.8 mm
Length from bend inside to contact tube: 42.5 mm

I would like a back and forth clip, like on newer olights. It can’t be so hard to bend one

I’d like to get in line for one of these, with the XPL Hi emitters and clear 10507 lense.

I really like my D4, but am unlikely to ever learn to flash it with Anduril, so buying this seems like a good alternative.

It will only come with the frosted optic, but if you want to buy a clear one, they are cheap, and easy to replace.

Will I be able to order the clear lense at the same time as the light? It would be quite a waste to pay $5 for shipping a $1 part separately.

Buy the clear and other lenses from MTN Electronics. His shipping for a small part like that will be less than $5, his shipping prices are very honest. Pick up some extra batteries while you are at it.

You will have to buy the optic separately. MTN is one place, and there is another mentioned earlier in this thread. I think it might be LED Supply. It is a few pages ago.

You can also polish the frosted one. I have to go to work, and don’t have time to search, but this is also mentioned earlier in the thread.

No, the clip is not reversible. Not really, anyway. But it might be removable if the tail isn’t glued.

This is as close as it gets to being reversible:

It does not fit at the head end, and even if it did, inserting the clip between the head parts would interfere with the light’s operation.

Makes sense. I thought the light might not work that way.

But we can bent it to a deep carry clip

Thx TK

As a scientist, guys are killing me with the bastardisation of the periodic table

If something’s an element, I propose it’s given its elemental symbol, if it’s anything else, then capital abbreviations:

I propose FW3DI = Diamond (okok, yes I know I’m breaking my own rule about elements…)
Or, for the budget version,
FW3MO = moissanite

:sunglasses:

Given the volume of posts I’ve read where you dropped your lights I would like to add a shockproof variant.
So I present you the Vibram version: FW3VB

And there is an FW3TROJ for people who have a tendency to drop/loose their lights in awkward places.

rubber version

I liked the idea of those at first, but now I avoid them. Clipped one way, it ends up with a lot of extra material sticking out. This is really uncomfortable when the clip is pointing toward skin, like when clipped onto a waistband. Clipped the other way, it’s significantly weaker, holds things at an odd angle, lacks friction, and the light itself acts as a lever to pull on the clip’s weakest point.

Olight in particular tends to use this style of clip on lights where it makes no sense. Clipped one way, it works, aside from the extra fold sticking out… but clipped the other way, half the light is sticking out above the clip. It’s the opposite of deep carry. I don’t think anyone at Olight thought this one through:

Anyone have links for pre-bent deep pocket clips that could be modded to work?
