Re : pbcfwshop.com

Hey BLF’s, have any of any of you guys dealt with pbcfwshop.com? Seems odd they accept Visa only. Nothing else. Any insight? Thanks.

Nothing specific in "About Us" = red flag.

If you Google "pbcfwshop.com", after a few pages all you get are Russian websites, which cannot be good.

Looking for something familiar?

Thanks to both of you guys raccoon city, and Henk4U2. I HAVE to STAY AWAY from these guys.

Okay, I ordered something from this website today and was told my bank blocked the transaction. I’ve talked to my bank and they have told me that they have no record of any transactions from the merchant. I am now worried that this is all a scam and they now have my debit card number. They sent an email that said because I ordered with a “Master card” I get 15% off my next order. I did not order with a MasterCard I used a Visa.

Thanks for the above information. I’m calling my bank to cancel this card.

FWIW, you should use a credit card for online transactions instead of a debit card. Much easier to get help for a fraudulent CC purchase than a debit card.

In fact, I use one of two credit cards I have for online, that allow the generation of a unique one time use card number. The purchase amount can be limited as well as how long the number is valid (measured in months or bill cycles - minimum of two)

MtnDon, thanks for the info. The more I looked at it, then googles the site and came up with this thread, flags went up. On the note about the credit/debit card, you should always use your debit card as a credit instead of entering in a PIN number. When you use it as a credit Visa/MasterCard back it if you ever have to dispute a charge and they will reimburse you quicker and dispute without any issues.

I am happy I did not follow through buying from these scammers. I really wanted some lights they listed. BUT risk getting ripped off. NO THANKS.

True, but the fact remains that when a debit card is used fraudulently, either as credit or debit, it is your actual cash that is being used, it may remain out of your reach for a while. When a credit card is used fraudulently it is the bank or credit card issuer’s money that is being used. The disputed amount is usually not counted as being a debt until the bank/CC company makes a decision on the dispute. Which do you think gets more attention and faster attention, their own money or yours?

I have never used a debit card; I shredded mine and tossed them when I got them. I use only true credit cards and as mentioned above use the virtual number type except when doing a transaction face to face at the merchant. The process of retrieving debit card funds is not as user-friendly as it is with credit cards. I used to work in fraud prevention and recovery at one of the very large banks. I didn’t like debit cards before I worked there, absolutely detest them ever since. They can be better for the merchant (lower rates) and better for the bank as it is not their money.

FYI, using a debit card as credit does not count towards building one’s credit rating. But a secured credit card does help build up your FICO score, as long as it is used responsibly. Not a prepaid CC, but a secured card. A secured card is treated like a loan whereas a prepaid card is treated more like a debit card or writing a check or spending cash, for FICO score purposes.
