KD (kaidomain): Deals and new products thread

I think Ban is probably on holidays for a few weeks?

Got it.

I will contact our supplier for the SST-40 5000K

We will have the Chinese New Year Holiday on 4 Feb 2019 to 14 Feb 2019.

If you get any urgent matter, you can PM me or contact sales@kaidoamin.com

I will help to solve out the problem.

Has anyone done any comparative measurements of the SST40 N5 LED? I ordered some bare LEDs and measured the output and voltage and it was nearly identical to SST40 N4 BA LEDs I had. I hope/suspect I was just sent N4 LEDs. I ordered some more N5 BC as well as some N4 BD (which both have the lower VH voltage bin). I included a note saying it was important I get the exact bins I ordered.

Are the N5 BC's the 6500K rated ones but look more like 5700K?

I've been holding off waiting for more info myself on the N5's.

BanL?

I think that has been said of them. The BC color bin is one bin warmer than the BA and above the BBL.

I came round to checking this led, and as always having the led in hands tell you more than the specs tell you.

The JC1 tint would suggest that as with the 3500K and 4000K SST-20 which should be on the BBL as well, that in an actual flashlight build the hotspot ends up clearly above the BBL.

But no, not this time. I tested the led in a Sofirn SP10B (small OP reflector) on highest setting, that should be between 400 and 500mA. CRI was over 95CRI in all measurements, with R9 always well above 80.

With reflector removed (so the bare led) from straight above:

Same, at a 60 degrees angle:

Flashlight assembled, hotspot above the reflector:

Halfway the spill:

When judged by eye the tint in the beam from the 2700K SST-20, as built into the SP10B, is very nice too, very incan-like.

This is just one led and JC1 is a tint range so this may be a lucky led, but for now this result is good.

Thanks for posting the results. How is the tint at low output?

I measured so many lights last night I need to double check but I’m pretty sure my 3000K SST-20 with Carclo frosted optic was above BBL until the output was quite high.

400-500mA is already not really high.
The SP10B has a silly low low that can not be measured, so only measuring medium (30% of high, 150mA-ish) was possible. And I have no idea if the SP10B uses PWM-ed low modes (can not see PWM, but the frequency may be high) so take this measurement with a grain of salt, it could be a PWMed 500mA.

So on medium in the SP10 the tint of the hotspot is slightly further above the BBL but it is nothing that you can see in real life.

I expect more visible rosiness when the current goes up to several amps

I guess you meant to say I replaced the resistors with a conductor. ;-)

Interesting direct buck drive :-D concept. Does it kills the lower modes?

^:)

Every led is probably a bit different but my SST-20 3000K Jaxman E2L with Carclo 10570 optic and BLF-A6 driver stays under the BBL in all modes.

Here’s my amber Kdlitker triple with one dead LED

I contacted KD and described the problem.
The reply was to ask me how many LEDs were working.

Well, the image of the emitters isn’t public. But yeah, reading should provide the answer to that one.

Oops. Made that public, thanks.

I can’t think why one of three emitters in a parallel setup would work for a while then quit.

(Haven’t reliably gotten links to Flickr albums to appear inline here as anything moret han an empty rectangle, but these should be clickable public links)

I have had that happen before, from a poor re-flow, not enough solder paste. It was running fine on Turbo, then went out. When I removed the emitter, there was hardly any solder on the anode contact. Cooled it down added a bit of paste, re-re-flowed, viola… working fine again!

Most likely its fine if you heat it up it might come good if you can? I have had this happen before a few times last time it was a XPLHI i bough from Fasttech and i reflowed it and it came good without needing any more solder.

I am sure Ban will look after you!

So, has anybody got their order shipped from Kaidomain since the end of the CNY?

It hasn’t been shipped for close to 2 weeks after the end of the CNY.

Yeah, me. 2 or 3.

Yea i had my last order ship on the 20/2 and i ordered on like the 6/2 but CNY. I did notice shipping is slower than usual just left china a few days ago.

No, i am also waiting for an order from january to be shipped.
I contacted them a few days ago, but they have not replied yet.
