The Luxeon V is similar to an XP-L HD. The die size and the dome are more important in determining flood/throw than the ‘footprint’ or package size (3535, 4040, 5050)
Agro:SST-40 has XM-L2-like die size so it’s much throwier than XHP50.2,
Luxeon V is floodier. Are you sure the Luxeon V is floodier than the SST-40?
The Luxeon V has a smaller footprint (4040) .
Luxeon is flip chip and flip chips are flooders usually.
But this time that’s not the case, I was wrong and stock they offer practically the same cd/lm.
Note that SST-40 can be dedomed with great throw improvements. With Luxeon V the improvements are marginal.

LED test / review EN Lumileds Luxeon V (CSP, 2017) L1V1-407003V500000 UPDATE --- 06/23/18 --- raw data added! (link) [image] In the first days of LED technology, 2003, Lumileds released the Luxeon V LED. For it’s release it was one of the brightest emitter in the world and offered many manufacturers of lighting systems new possibilites in design and luminous power. Fourteen years later, a new Luxeon V was presented to the public, available in 70 CRI option only…

Because of more accurate results and some minor changes in the text the german version is no longer valid anymore! I bought this emitter at Kaidomain several months ago. LED test / review – Luminus SST-40-W Specialty White N4 BA (+ dedomed) – Here it is, the next gen XM-L2!
Thanks Agro for looking into it.
So, we should expect similar basic characteristics with the sst-40 and luxeon V. (Lummens and throw)
And both leds are ‘rumored’ to have minimal tint shift.
So I’m guessing the biggest difference (apart of-course from the tint) will be Amperage draw in direct drive.
Do you know which led has a smaller Internal Resistance?
Hard to tell. You may see in the Luxeon V thread that I linked to that 2 samples from different sources that Koef3 checked had very different Vf.
Is there a code for the pre-order already? Interested to try the Philips Luxeon V model…

Ordered Philips Luxeon model
Any information about mode spacing?
Also, is anybody familiar with Amutorch drivers? What should we expect in terms of efficiency?

Interested. Haven’t gotten code yet. I’d like to try the Philips Luxeon V LED.
Anyone got this wonder how it perform, UI, tint and beam of Luxeon V ?
I just got mine today. UI is Low-Mid-High + strobe (double click). It does not come with Turbo mode. Luxeon hotspot is larger than XHP35 HI.
Anyone got this wonder how it perform, UI, tint and beam of Luxeon V ?
Can you measure the throw?
Edit: If you can’t, can you do a beamshot comparing other lights to it, or measure the inner diameter of the reflector?
anybody have this light?
Beamshot comparison with Astro MT02 or BLF GT Mini?
