Left to right, Maratac copper, Lumintop Brass worm, Manker E02, Manker E01, Thrunite Ti-3, Sofirn C01 Cool White, Sofirn C01 Warm White, Harbor Freigth (3-AAA), Mini Maglite (2-AAA)
The Maratac was in my pocket the longest, the Thrunite got the most use (3 weeks on the JMT), I have not really used the mini maglite, my E01 is a bit wonky in skipping modes, but has arguably the nicest tint of them all, and was my first AAA of the group. They all have seen pocket time except the two larger ones. They don’t get much lovin anymore since I fell in love with my Emissar D4.
I learned the lesson with the Thrunite Ti5… when I wanted to buy the Ti5 it was not produced and sold anymore… (missed it by 4 weeks, huge regrets, luckily I got one a few months later)
Same with the Thrunite T10S/T10T… wanted a Ti version… discontinued… happy I bought the aluminium T10 version as backup at least when they released the T10V2… felt like an idiot first for buying a light I won’t carry right away, but a few days later I was happy I did it. There’s nothing quite like these on the market anymore.
I bought 4 Sofirn C01 yesterday for the same reason… :person_facepalming:
as an excuse… I got family, so I expect they will “borrow” my lights and use and lose them, so I better have multiples of the nice ones.
The D4 in 18350 form factor is pretty amazing. I wear hoodies in the morning in lieu of turning up the heat pump, until my wife wakes up a few hours later. I have 7 of them in different weights/warmth and in the pocket of each is either a AAA copper Tool or a brass Ultratac K18 plus one ToolTi. I am thinking that the D4 is not that much bigger in a pocket like that. In addition it has a much lower low than any of my AAA’s since I use only 10440’s in all butt the ToolTi. And the high end is not even comparable.
HMMmmm! Can I justify my heating savings enuff to cover a few more D4’s?
