I am very interested in modding my D4 with an aux board.
I want the aux LEDs to act as a locator light, with a brightness roughly comparable to a large tritium vial. They shouldn’t light up a dark room.
I guess your “0.15mA” brightness level is most suitable for that?
Can I order a D4 board with a trimmer installed instead of an LDO so I can adjust current without soldering?
If yes, what is the approximate adjustment range for the “0.3mA” and “0.15mA” levels?
Problem with D4 board is it has no space for a regular 3x3mm trimmer
2x2mm trimmers may be possible to fit would need a new design and are pretty expensive so I never invested in that build
It is possible to replace the LDO carefully soldering with a resistor and you can use high/low feature with D4S Firmware to get on low tritium brightness
or just build at very low constant current with LDO
What’s the current status of the D1 and D1S boards? Which approach do you like better: direct or indirect? Cool idea, never really thought about illuminating the gasket of a reflector light.
I have not tested the indirect so far because i am not having a light to do
the dirdct is more work with sanding and Gasket but I like it better
The boards are here ready to be build
I have also a version in mind with LVP that also needs reverse protection,
but so far the demand for those bord is almost non existent so its not really worth investing
I agree that the process is too time consuming for such a low price. Of course, if you’re doing multiple items, a lot of that time can be divided. But, even if you optimized it to the best possible, your price of 5.7€ is too low for such hand work.
Sad but I had to increase the prices, as they took a lot of work to build
I thought I may subsidy with some profit from drivers but calculating shows I am making still a loss
rev 3.1 is now available
one more full battery indicator outer LEds added, default is green but can be changed
LVP now shuts down the boards completely, LDO and voltage dividers ect. get cut from power, even if that drain is just 20-40uA depending which board
I had an idea how to get aux boards to the D18, it would need replacing the front cover
have all LEDs flipped so they shine through holes of the PCB, while all components are inside
I was reading about your FW3A AUX boards. Are they ready? I am still waiting for the SST-20 FW3A version. But the 5000K LH351D are already waiting here. And the new 10509 Optic is ordered from arrow and shoud arrive in 2 days.
