Emisar D18 introduction

Toykeeper, TA mentioned that there is an issue with active temperature regulation in Anduril for high output lights. Does RampIOS have ATR and does it have this problem fixed? I really hope it does especially considering the good heat shedding potential of this host.

Bunker fuel flashlight LoL.

:-D

I’d love a shorty 18350 tube for this light!

I’m not sure of or why the marketing reason to go too big of a light for sales!

Profit in the long-run must be KING to stay alive and can not be forgotten for long run! Boil it down and you have to make a profit no mater who is offended even though flashlight folks are the easiest offended… Understanding its a give and take of service and product. Having 100’s of flashlights and use ONE everyday! I could float a battleship with Fivemega (Richard Socialist Head) Lights and even 18650 lights that go unused! The vast majority of consumers don’t want to modify a flashlight (although a significant number on BLF do, but not a majority in any stretch of the imagination) ( I don’t want or need to be bothered! Certainly not profitable!) (Emisar is barely mentioned on CPF as you know, which leaves Blf/Tlf - Asia/sensored)

1 x 18350 (because the 16340 suck) with 1 LED in neutral tint with good CRI and fair mix of spot/flood in a true small and compact EDC size, including a good clip & in the form like the Zebralight SC32 running latest Anduril (although the Zebra interface has its advantages of double modes and set placement, function & cc) would outsell the current Zebralights - Olights - Sofrin - Fenix HDS Oveready Boss - Surefire - Klarus - Convoy - TN - Astrolux - Armytek & etc currently on market given its proper due… Add upgrade or in some instances downgrade to 18650/21700 battery tube and it could be a game changer… Overly simplified for sure but something to think about, maybe! I say that because I can’t think of or find a light that hits the fit and function of a small cost effective EDC. Other than the Zebra (Olight doesn’t, can’t, wont…)

On the contrarian side of things the 18350/16340 is limited to flashlight enthusiast although so is BLF/CPF as well as in availability of the battery itself. The only other person in my city most likely that knows about the Emisar brand of lights is my brother that I encourage to buy. AA or 18650 makes more profit for the majority. Enthusiast vs the majority? ( For the muggle mode people old software is fine. For the Enthusiast market, people notice when TK offers updated software to the latest version at your fingertips and it doesn’t happen over a long period of time… Endless talk for the majority of sticking six pins or whatever into the board to upgrade equates to switching a dog from premium soft food to Old Roy hard cardboard!

Big powerful lights that can’t sustain the heat or brightness and sit on the shelf vs a usable very bright light that is small and versatile that fulfills a majority of needs… Where is the profit!

Is the Majority the target, who knows and that is the conundrum! As an enthusiast, which is the target market, I’d buy the 18350 with 1 LED with more than enough output given the outstanding versatility included in the user interface and I’d use it every day…

This light is making quite the impression. This thread is growing fast. What’s it been……30 hours or so.
Hank,
I’d really like an 18500 tube. May even leave a little body left to hold on to.
I have about 100 Efest 18500’s I need to do something with.

First of all, he’d need 18,000 of them for 1000 lights. And quoting Zebralight when I had a conversation with them earlier:

The SPHWHTL3DA0GF4RTS6 you bought comes with 4 possible sub tint. Samsung ships whatever sub tint out of 4 to its distributor (the distributor has no say in terms of the sub tint when placing orders). The chance of getting a good tint from the SPHWHTL3DA0GF4RTS6 order code is less than 30% but the possibility exists.
There are 16 possible sub tints with the (4000K, 90+ CRI) order code for the LED we use in the SC64c LE. However, we picked the best one (T6) out of all 16 from our Samsung distributor. We don’t know if you can get the same T6 (or T7) in the future, and hence the ’LE’ part in the model number.

ZL only needs 1 emitter per light, Hank needs 18. If ZL is concerned about consistent supply, Hank even more so. Who knows, maybe it’s not as bad as ZL says. I just sent off for a quote to Arrow for 6400 of the T6’s. We’ll see what they say if they reply.

If an 18350 tube were available, I’d buy one, but I doubt I’d actually use it much. It looks to me like this light would feel unbalanced with that short a tube. (I do use the 18350 tubes on my D1 and D4Ti all the time.)

Either way, I think I’ll be ordering one of these as soon as it goes up on intl-outdoor.com.

This light is incredible. I had absolutely no plans to spend $100 on a flashlight, with the FW3A coming (hopefully) soon, but those plans may have to change.

Already got a quote from arrow:

Thank you for your interest in Arrow.com. Below is the quote you requested on 3/14/2019.
PART Lead Time(Wks) QTY PRICE TOTAL
sphwhtl3da0ef4t0t6
Samsung Electronics 6 6400 $0.8154 $5,218.56
SUBTOTAL: $5218.56

at $ 0.80 they are almost the same price as the SST-20 in the same qty….arrow even has free worldwide shipping doesnt it?

Now - I don’t expect for Hank to even want to order enough for a 1000pcs of 18 emitter lights….Look at the stock numbers on his site. He has around 50 of Emisar D4 ,150 of D4S and 60 of Noctigon M43 in stock….of ALL emitter types……You could build 300 Emisar D18 lights and have a 1000 leds left over to make additional D4 and D4S Emisars!

I just think this is a case of where it may really be worth it….Dale used the W6 bin LH351D on his fireflies and is well over 10000 lumens - a massive gain….so i get it - its not for every situation, but for raw power - its your huckleberry.

LH351D is brighter than SST20. It produces more lumens.

However, my personal experience is the SST20 looks a lot more impressive. Especially in lights like this with tiny optics. This is because the hotspot is much, MUCH more intense with SST20, even if it isn’t as wide.

Best would XPL HI which throws like SST20 while producing lumens like LH351D, and can do so with excellent tint below the black body line. However, I can see why XPL HI would not be a common option in this light, especially if it would double the cost of the light to nearly $200.

I think an extra XP-L would be around $ 40. Acceptable for me.

Actually, checking International Outdoors website, to get XPL HI emitters the extra cost is about $10.

Based on that, and increasing from 4 to 18 emitters, I would expect the extra cost to purchase a D18 with XPL HI should be $35.

That’s not bad. If the base price of the light is $90, then with XPL HI it would be $125. At that price, I probably would order XPL HI.

Exactly, $ 125 from XP-L HI and I go into it.

Just got the

But I agree, if he could get them, spreading them across the other models would be great.

+1. Would be gorgous.

If I point it down and let go, will it hover?

:student:

My experience with the XP-L HI wasn’t that great. It showed significantly more abrupt CCT shift in the beam then either my 219C or SST-20. The color temperature was also about out of spec. to. I had a 2700K model, and it’s actual CCT was over 3000K. The yellowish rings in the beam were in the upper 2900K range.

The SST-20 delivers its promised CCT better then the XP-L, and it has far less chroma shift about beam to.

Nice light. Willl definitely buy one… emisar lights are defect free based on my previous order.

Why not use 3 x 20700 ? 14000 lumen will drain the battery quickly.

This is how the 3*18350 tube look in the 3D file, short and thick, what do you guys think?
