Will you be able to turn the turbo timer off with the ui it has?
Yes, Narsil will have all the normal options to calibrate the thermal control as you desire or disable it completely.
I ran another test the other day with Anduril and it still overheated, so it is not looking like Anduril will be able to make it to production sadly. At this point there is nothing left for me to try to make it work.
Even if it was able to be tweaked into working most of the time I would not trust it until the root cause is fixed. There is some kind of bug that is allowing it to ramp the power up even when twice the set temperature when it should be locked to the lowest output mode. This means that unless the root issue is figured out, there is a high probability that a percentage of lights would still suffer from this. So I just can’t trust it for a production light until that is figured out.
I did add the flashing pogo-pins to the driver so re-flashing will be easy later when it is fixed or if you don’t care about the risks.
They said if there is enough interest it is possible we could have a special group buy for custom colors that don’t make it to the main production line.
Hey TA/Freeme
Is there anyway to confirm if the opportunity suggested above could actually become a reality?

Colors … more colors … ALLTHECOLORS! lol
Possible, yes.
Although the particulars are still very much TBD.
First we would need to show interest for a particular color or even custom LED ect. The issue would then be how to actually sell it. Banggood does not like dealing with a limited edition item, they want to sell it forever if they list it on their store.
There are a few options we are exploring but they are on the back burner until the light itself is finished.
This does bring me to another point I have been discussing with the manufacture. Gluing lights. Personally I don’t even buy glued lights because sooner or later I WILL want to change something about it.
There is a chance we could get some lights offered without glue if the outcry is loud enough
If the poll fails the next step is to complain to banggood, that is apparently the best way to be heard but figured we would start out with an easier option first.
I have been telling them that BLF members might even pay a little more for an unglued light, like say $1 to have the ability to upgrade or repair the light down the road.

Sounds good.
Considering the GB won’t be launching until June I’ll patiently wait and follow up before I place any orders

Mmmm… A XPL-HI 5D option would gain my interest in this light.
I have tried this and it does look good but is actually not that much brighter then the 95cri SST-20 believe it or not. The 70cri SST-20 should be about the same or possibly brighter then the XP-L HI.
Which is why they decided to move to the SST-20, better CRI and only ~15% lower lumens IIRC. That assumes they could get a top bin 5D of course, with the bin they would most likely end up with the numbers would be even closer.
The olson white is one I considered, it could work, the only reason I have not pursued it is because the optics on this light are really not setup for throw, so I think it would be kind of wasted.
It is possible they will swap the XP-G3 6500k for an SST-20 6500k if the tests come out good. They already have the sample SST-20 LED’s and hope to test them next week. I hope they do since theSST-20 doesn’t have that G3 tint shift issues and a tighter beam.

The only reason I favor the XPL-HI is tint. For me the choices are 219B or XPL-HI. All others have been inconsistent, or consistently bad.
Yes, agree - the XPL-HI has the best most uniform tint. Others, like TK, say the same thing. I prefer the V2 5D's though.
You get some decent lumens, some decent throw, but the tint is phenomenal. Funny because when we dedomed XP-L's our selves, we got horrible green tint. But CREE's dedome, and whatever protective layer they add, does something miraculous.
I agree, I really like the XP-L HI tint as well but lumens or high CRI is what sells lights, a good tint low CRILED just doesn’t register with the general public.
It is possible we could get a special edition with the XP-L HI but they seem to of rejected it for the normal production models.
