Lumintop GT mini VS Convoy L2 - Thrower Compare

Thanks GearBest very much for the Convoy L2 gift through a Giveaway.

Convoy L2 from GearBest

Hi my friends, surely a lot of you are looking for a thrower flashlight. Today I send you a comparison of the two thrower flashlights I am using, Lumintop GT mini and Convoy L2.
I will share the things that Lumintop GT mini has and Convoy L2 doesn’t have and vice versa. Hope you will choose a flashlight suitable for your needs.

First I will talk about the common point of 2 flashlights:

- 2 flashlights using LED XPL-HI brightness reaches about 1100 lumens

- 2 flashlights using smooth reflector, AR-coated glass for a distance of 750m

- 2 flashlights all use a flat battery or a convex battery

  • 2 flashlights all have the last level memory function and momentary mode.

Now come the differences between 2 Lumintop GT mini products and Convoy L2.
Things Convoy L2 still has Lumintop GT mini does not have:

- Convoy L2 is much larger in size, and twice as much as the mini Lumintop GT mini. Due to the large size Convoy L2 will dissipate heat better. Lumintop GT mini reduces brightness when running in Turbo mode continuously for a period of 3 to 5 minutes by rising temperatures and Convoy L2 is still very cool. If you need to use high brightness in continuous time, the plus point for Convoy L2.

- The size of Convoy L2 is extremely large, if facing the neighbor dog you will be more confident if you hold the Convoy L2 in your hand. Convoy L2 can be used as a weapon for self-defense.

- The use of 2 26650 batteries for longer usage time on Convoy L2. Using 2 batteries is also an advantage when you can use 2 laptop batteries with low discharge for Convoy L2 by P = U * I.

- Convoy L2 has more color options than the traditional black color of Lumintop GT mini. I really like the white version of Convoy L2, it’s very nice.

- Convoy L2 is sold with more accessories. Includes 2 small magnets for us to use with flat batteries. You won’t worry about our battery being too bad in the middle of the lamp. A combat ring, I don’t use it but you might like this battle ring.

- The user interface of Convoy L2 is extremely simple. You only have 3 light levels: low 5% -mid 40% -high 100% with 2 strobe and SOS modes.

- Convoy L2 has up to 4 colors suitable for the needs of each person: V2-1A: 6500-7000K, U6-3A: 5000-5300K, U6-4C: 4500-4700K, U4-7A: 3000-3300K compared to 2 of the Lumintop GT mini.

- Convoy L2 uses tail button

- Non-spilled lamp head brings an unlimited Mod ability for Convoy L2.

- Convoy L2 has a low voltage protection function and anti-reverse polarity, I do not see Lumintop mentioning these 2 protection features. During the use of the Lumintop GT mini, my battery has dropped below 2.2 vol and I cannot charge the battery with the HTRC charger.

The Lumintop GT mini has also the Convoy L2 without:

- Lumintop GT mini uses body switch with led light. You will easily find your flashlight at night.

- Ramping mode gives you a lot of brightness levels to suit your needs.

- Lights running on the famous NarsilM firmware. You will have a lot of discovery experiences compared to just turning on and off like a conventional flashlight.
You can set the mode to use ramping or mode-set, set the lights to light the lights down by temperature or time…

- Lumintop GT mini can use 18350 transfer tube, the size of the lamp will be greatly reduced if you like a small flashlight that is far away, Lumintop GT mini is probably your choice.

- IP 68 waterproof standard on the higher Lumintop GT mini of Convoy L2 and also the highest water-proof standard on flashlights far from present. Giving you more peace of mind when using in all weather conditions.

- You can also check the battery capacity on the Lumintop GT mini by clicking 3 times when the light is off.

- Lumintop GT mini has a light lock function.

Wish you can choose a flashlight suitable for your use. Maybe the post is not yet complete. Any omission, please leave a comment below. Thank you for reading.

Thanks for the comparison!

You are welcome my friend. I hope you will choose a suitable flashlight.

Thank you for this. You said they both are claimed to have a distance of 750m. Since the L2 has a larger reflector, I would expect it to have longer throw than the GT Mini. It’s hard to tell from the pictures, but the GT Mini seems to be close to the L2 in throw. Do you see any difference in real life?

Convoy L2 1100 lumens < Lumintop GT mini 1200 lumens. If the environment is high humidity or fog. The white light of the convoy L2 will break down not like the Lumintop GT mini. Generally, both will have the same projection distance.

Thanks! That’s what I wanted to know.

If I had to sell one, I would probably sell Lumintop GT mini and buy Convoy L2. My kids like a bigger flashlight. I also like the feeling of holding Convoy L2. Because I usually don’t move too much. But a trip away, the volume of Lumintop GT mini is advantageous.

I’d prefer the GT Mini for sure. I don’t mind big flashlights if I feel like I’m “getting more” for the size. But when they compare like this, I’d take the small one any time.

Lumintop ok for travelling and short trips.
But the dual (OR SINGLE) 26650 battery/s in the L2.
give less heat and longer high light time.

Plus, personally, I like the 2/3 way no problems sw.
Multiple usage ones I don’t like much

I put a FET driver in my L2 and get about 5% more throw than my GT Mini which was disappointing, but the L2 can run indefinitely and is a slightly different use case light.

Got both of them.

They perform pretty similar in terms of throw though the GT Mini runs at more than double the power.

The L2 has way greater modding potential and can tolerate a lot more heat, while the GT Mini comes maxxed out from factory.

Now buy Convoy L2 and Astrolux FT03
