Sorry I have to say plan changed. the first 10000 lumen light will not SP36 Pro but Q8 Pro, because SP36’s head is not big enough for bigger leds or more leds.
Between the emitters of XHP50 and sst40 is the colossal difference in heating. The XHP50 emitter will allow working without overheating in the ~1500-2200 Lm modes for any amount of time, without triggering temperature control. This is a very practical in real use.
with my AMUTORCH X9 3*SST40 with one 26650 cell i get around 6000 lumen, so I think 8000 lumen in a Q8 are possible, maybe a bit more, but its not a big jump from the original, you are right….
Jens
PS: but tint and beam of this SST40 is very nice, the most XHP50 lights I own, have a more or less ugly beam and tint /bluish spot with greenish ring around
If Sofirn offer a Q8 with SST40 abd USB-c Carging port in the price range of the original, I definetely buy another one!!
I’m not sure if it’s a good idea to use 6 instead of 4 emitters in the Q8. First, you need to redesign the reflector for 6 emitters (= causing additional costs). Second, you will lose throw as a 6-LED reflector will certainly have a smaller aperture per LED, resulting in a floodier beam. Even though I like the idea of a 14,000-16,000 lumen Q8 with XHP50.2 I’d rather prefer a Q8 with 4x dedomed SST-40 5.000K with approx. 7,500-8,000 lumen output and a very nice beam profile. As an alternative for people who like more flood and a warmer tint you could also choose the Lumileds Luxeon V 4.000K 70CRI. The advantage for those 4040/5050 emitters is that Neven (www.led4power.com) has appropriate boards available already.
