Are you a flashoholic?

I purposefully didn’t define it because it was never meant to be my opinion.
In my opinion everyone should use their own definition.

I added a clarification to my first post.

Other: I’m not a flashoholic, the amount of fully working lights I have is very small. I’m a flashlight developeroholic. The amount of obsolete PCB designs, firmware versions and components is a clear indication that I have issues.

If you’re posting on a forum about flashlights, you’re done for. We’re all under the same umbrella

When you already own 2-20x more flashlights than you’ll ever need, you’ve already blown your annual flashlight budget by March and you see a new light drop that’s the bees knees in your particular category (throw, flood, high cri, zoomie, lens, emitter etc) do you:
A) Start immediately planning what you can cut out of your budget so you can afford said light
B) Immediately order one through the group-buy because you know it’s the best price available and you simply can’t afford not-to
C) Start selling off old flashlights because you NEED the new one
D) Order it and allow the chips to fall where they may
E) Convince yourself it’s cool but you’ve got enough flashlights to supply 8 people in an emergency and refrain from buying it

If your answer was A-D you might just have a flashlight problem.

BONUS- If you overlooked the part about having an “annual flashlight budget” in the original question as a given normal thing to you… You guessed it, you may have a flashlight problem

lol to 99.8% of the world it’s a problem… to us it’s awesome and we’re just better at spending money than the rest! Who’s going to have the last laugh in the zombie apocalypse or 28 day blackout!?

How about starting some FH meetings?

Hi,
I’m Chris. My story is similar to many others. I’m too weak to stop buying flashlights. I have only one job to satisfy my hunger. Fortunately, I’m capable of selling the ones that got me bored…. otherwise I’d be forced to eat…. light? Thanks god I prefer warm light, the cold wouldn’t be so tasty…

Hi, I’m Matt and I’m a flashaholic. My sobriety date is March 1st 2019.

background talk: did you hear about the new MS18 with 100,000 lumens or the new DS18 or MF01S with 14,000 high cri lumens?

Matt - umm

just look how many times my name appears as a buyer, as opposed to a seller in a wts thread

If you make a new acquaintance and, in the course of conversation, mention that you’re a flashlight hobbyist (or words to that effect), how many people respond with “Oh wow, that’s really cool!”?
Ok, now how many respond with a slightly perplexed, sometimes condescending smile followed by “oh, isn’t that nice.”?
I’m not sure what “normal” is but I don’t think we’re it.

Last month I made a meme that depicts my BLF experience thus far… It might help others identify if they’re a flashaholic also

Agro I feel like you’ve just walked into a church and asked “is anyone here religious?”

I think about flashlights a lot, like every day. Guess that qualifies me, I voted yes

Flashaholics 12 step guide:

When I’m out with people do I sometimes get bored and start thinking about how much fun I could be having playing/modding/buying/researching flashlights? :smiling_imp:

if an addiction is logical, then yes I am.

Of coarse Not—Denial is the first sign of Addiction

Without question. We’ll see if it holds long term.

Gonna have to vote no on this one :innocent:

No longer even a question if:

You can’t remember when you past a hundred lights

You can’t remember how many you have given away

You can count at least 80 within arms reach (with batteries)

Your wife stopped asking if that’s a new light on your desk

:person_facepalming: :person_facepalming:

Like the saying goes “If you have to ask?”
:smiling_imp:

You’re browsing a flashlight forum and making posts.

If you’re reading this thread, the only correct response to the poll is “Yes, I am a flashaholic.”

I haven’t had one all day, but I may need one tonight. So is that a no, or am I in denial?
