Looking for a dedicated thrower

The MRV can be modded easely with a 14 mm led, but its not nessesary. Hotspot at 5 meters

are only 20 cm. Measured throw last night to a confirmed 300 meters. Could go further but I

could not find a longer distance in my domestic neighborhood.

Just the ticket! Manafont MRV Lunapower?

Whats the current draw on your sample? I might just overdrive it if it is not stock 1A to led.

Yes. 0.6 amps at the tail.

That good at at throwing by being heavily underdriven?

Ordered one! The driver will be modded if 0.6A is present on my sample too.

Can you tell me the sizes for the emitter star and driver circuit?

Thanks!

Probably due to my cheap meter or the battery.

Using my Trio power supply at 3.8 volt it draws 1.2 amps.

But read my post #24. Its a hell of a thrower no matter what the meter reads.

Led is 14 mm and driver is 17 mm

How about this for some modding fun:

Long 5cm wide, deep smooth reflector... should be a winner or em i missing something?

Upon reasearching a bit it should be a solarforce skyline clone. If it is an exact copy then the driver swap would be a headache since it seems it is press fit into the pill like assembly.

Anyone tried?

Certainly the Skyline could do with more output - and that's with a Q5 or R2 in it. This isn't the same as it'll take 2 18650s which the Skyline won't at it is 6V maximum.

It is probably cheaper to press in the driver capsule than to thread it in.. And none of the pictures show the back of the module with the LED in it. It might be easy, or it might be next to impossible to mod, but for the price it is probably worth a try.

Old4570 was going to mod his Skyline, but I assume from not having heard about it that he's not yet done so.

An emitter swap on its own might be worthwhile but if it has the strange dimmer in the tailcap like the Solarforce does (Which is unlikely. I believe that was the reason for the 6V limit), that would have to go too.

If the driver swap can be done it looks like a real winner to me.

Thanks Nautic good idea ,measured my Skyray 1JC8 Hot Spot at 5 m is also around 20cm , If you want a cheap single mode light, take the SkyRay otherwise take the MRV ,modding of SkyRay isn`t that easy . Btw the driver is OK spill is good hot spot is brighter than p60 with smo reflector and sb driver.I've read xre can be over driven up to 2 Amps ,good heat sinking required. If i do my extrapolation correct it is around 385 Lumen with r2 at 1.8 amps at the emitter. Once upon a time i will give it a try.

Im probably gonna grab the fake solarfarce skyline and cry or celebrate later. It seems that heatsinking capabilities would be plenty even for a r2 @1,4A.

For the price i can't ask for a better reflector. I wonder how i can insert the new driver in it since it is pressed (probably).

Solarforce skylines aren't that expensive these days At 33$ I considered them..There are just too many other lights calling out to me and not enough peso's.

Thanks Budgeteer! I couldn't resist the 2 x 18650 Skyline I version. I loved the original Skyline looks but hated the 6V max and not running in regulation with 1 x 18650.

This should rectify that shortcoming and make for a nice dedomed XML mod host. For $2 more, they have it with gift box (additional shipping & packaging material to get crumpled in the mail) and a cheapo charger.

Did you order one too?

Nope, the reason being the price with shipping exceeded 28usd. Beyond that point my expenses double because our customs are being particularly fraudolent and can be voted for the next oscar for the category: Best science fiction actors and best unsupporting role. I would give them the pro douchebag award if one existed.

If i order anthing lets say 32USD i have to pay all kind of addon services radomly from 12-15€ each time. Thats around up to 20USD... daylight robbery.

WOW! What a rip-off! That sounds like a good reason to have a peoples revolution. Sorry you have to deal with such a load a crap.

Im still waiting for them to email me a shipping price before I accept the order.

The best they offereed me was the original price plus 9,5usd for shipping. If you gonna order use it to your advantage if you can. If they would agree for 5usd (still reasonable... hell DX seems to pay 5cents for shipping) they would get a deal now and then. But i guess im being too cheap for them being wholesale dealers.

Btw, they read this forum (got a private message confirming it) but they have not yet made an offer to the BLF comunity. Shame... we are growing daily and they can benefit. I guess the best salesman practices have yet to hit them.

So far manafont was the only one doing a great job. The chasback was great (the only bad call was the cash back as refund instead of already discounted prices which would be best but thats a minor.)

Its to bad they didn't offer any incentives. There are a lot of great lights on that site that I would have purchased if the prices were more competitive. After a few go-arounds, I got them down to US$31.81 delivered so I accepted. What can I say?... I like the looks and functionality of the Skyline I with its deep reflector, and this one with the ability to use 2 x 18650's. I went for just the light because the charger didn't look to good. I'll post back when I receive it.

Yep, that was my reasoning too... Unfortunately they couldn't stretch it to 28usd shipped... Looks a nice host to play looking forward to hear from your adventures with it. The 2x 18650 is very unique to this skyline clone.

I've had great communication via email with this seller so far. I wonder if he would be willing to work with you on the "declared value" of an item to help keep the price under the magical 28USD. I've seen this kind of "help" openly hinted from other sellers in the past so it probably wouldn't hurt to ask. sales3@shenzhen-wholesale.com So far, this appears to be the only seller with this host that I could find.

Looking at the pics of the Skyline 1 he also sells, this appears identical in every way accept for the color of the pill and body tube length. I have no doubt that this is in fact the same host, save the difference in length. I noticed that old4570 posted remarks on CPF about gutting his Skyline 1 for a driver and switch upgrade for 18650's to run at max. Not much to it other than having to destroy the old driver while trying to remove it.

Its my most anticipated mod so far, and I'll do a full review on the before and after surgery. Total cost will likely be in the $50 range with a real UCL lens... but man, I just love the looks of this light and cant wait to see how that awesome reflector works with a dedomed XML plugging along at 3.8-4A. Driver mod combo already selected.

I just wrote a message to the vendor in hopes of generating some discounts:

Thank you Mr. Tsai,
I appreciate your excellent communication skills and treating me as a valued customer. Do you have any idea when you might be able to ship this item to me?
Of interest to you and several readers will be the quality and performance of this light. I look forward to reviewing it. I am “FlashPilot” on this forum and others. In this thread, you will see comments about your company and the light I just ordered from you:
