Test/review of Sofirn 14500 900mAh (Black)

Sofirn 14500 900mAh (Black)

Official specifications:

  • Capacity: 900mAh (milliamp-hour)

  • Recharge up to 1100 times; Pre-Charged in factory

  • No memory effect - batteries can be recharged when fully, or partially discharged

A 14500 LiIon battery from Sofirn.

There is capacity difference between the two cells and they are not the rated 900mAh, the best one is more like 800mAh

Conclusion

There is a significant capacity difference between the two cells, i.e. they cannot be used in series. Actual capacity is fairly normal for average quality batteries in this size.

:+1: Thanks for the review HKJ.

If I remember correctly, when I first got mine, there was also a difference in the top charging value, so this probably means there are fluctuations (inconsistency) among the same type of cells!

Thanks for the review HKJ :+1:

Thanks for the test, HKJ!

Perhaps Sofirn can also send you their 18650s for testing:

(the one labeled 2800mAh is a protected 18650)

Sofirn have seemed to of changed their 14500’s to better cells.

Just finished testing at 3A with the West Mountain CBA IV Pro and I got much less voltage sag than the cell I purchased last year.

0.18A - 894mAh (0.2C)
0.5A - 869mAh
1A - 841mAh
1.5A - 810mAh
2A - 773mAh
2.5A - 671mAh
3A - 573mAh

Thanks HKJ!

This test is from almost 4 years ago. Anyone know if the result still applies to currently sold ones?

I got four, all are close to 100 resistance but all 900 MAh and above.
