Fireflies E07 preview

Dirty? I assumed it was dented, maybe wrong.

I checked everything in the black cardboard box. There is no clip, not hidden somewhere in the foam nor attached to the E07. This figures as all the other accessories were missing, too. No lanyard, no o-rings, no manual. Meanwhile I have tightened the bezel as much as I can with my bare hands but I’m not sure how far I can turn it. It already made some serious cracking noise when I twisted the bezel to make it fit tighter. :open_mouth: There’s still a little gap visible between the bezel and the head. :person_facepalming: Inside of the E07 it was dirty, too. The 18650-21700 adapter felt like it fell into sticky sand before…very strange. The rubber cap on the e-switch sits crooked and not correctly in an even position, i.e. one half looks like pressed down while the other half of the cap is in normal position. Apart from this imperfection the switch works as it should.

Next thing I try is to use a 21700 battery and see if it will be dented on the positive terminal. I’m gonna start with a Sofirn 21700 battery (Lishen LR2140SA).

Banggood answered to me but only to tell me to wait another 24 hours until they can tell me about the next steps. I wonder if they sold me a previously returned light. To me, there seem to be two options:

a) Banggood sends me the missing parts including another tailcap in “gun-metal grey” that hopefully fits in terms of color appearance. I doubt this will happen.
b) Banggood refunds me a reasonable amount for the missing parts and all the hassle with the quality issues mentioned before. The question is how much will be reasonable.

I will receive another E07 today that I ordered some days before, a clear anodized XP-L HI V3 3A (5.000K). I will be happy to report about this one as well.

Or has someone modded the switch to work better? With a washer eg.
Make a totally unresponsive switch with zero feedback when using gloves and a super clicky happy ui .

Sorry to ask this, but can’t seem to find exact info…
I just ordered one from banggood I don’t know witch version I am getting.
Is there a way to tell if i got the good one ore the bad one?

Thank you!

Yeah it shoud look like this ,

its just lazy a light without any extra stuff is missing, i understand if something would miss for a review sample or something since that user gets it for free but when u pay u should get everything that u are supposed to get… dirty marking and that things are also something weird it passed QA…… i hope the clear will have no issues its really a nice looking light with the purple color.

Thank you mortuus! I will report about my silver E07. Unfortunately, it’s stuck now in the very last step of shipping. :person_facepalming: It would be nice if Jackie (Fireflies) was to give a statement about QA/QC here. Maybe Banggood sent me a product that was already sold to someone else and returned but maybe my E07 has left Fireflies’ factory just like this. Are these o-rings standard size o-rings? How satisfied are you with the lanyard?

not sure about the O-rings i guess so ? i dont use the lanyard really yet no need but its nice to have if i will want, i find the clip very good its strong.

This lanyard is useless for this flashlight imo. First of all it doesn’t even fit in the lanyard hole on the head. Second - quality wise it looks and feels very cheap compared to the flashlight itself. It’s like putting steel wheels with plastic hubcaps on a lambo, just doesn’t look right. I think it was an afterthought just like a headband with PL47.
I like djozz’s solution a lot, it looks much better than the included one.
Anyway… I’m very satisfied with my E07. My batteries fit just fine, star sits flush on the shelf thankfully, one leg on the optic is cut short but who cares. It’s both a looker and a performer. Would buy again.

Why do you want a flashlight to be “like” another one ? Do we really need redundancy ?

The E07 could have been a bit more compact but FireFlies modified the initial design to better match our requests for a larger/heavier head for better thermal management. We are not talking about thermal performance with turbo that will saturate with heat a manker e14 and fireflies e07 about equally quickly, but a greater mass with deep fins to raise the bar of the highest sustainable output.

Concerning lumens, there are also people prefering quality over quantity, people who don’t care about lumens race, particularly if they are not needing more than 500 to 800 lumens 95% of the time. Without CCT mixing and/or filtering, there is still no equivalent to the Nichia 219B sw45 tint AND colors rendition. It’s not fanboyism, it’s a matter of compromise and pragmatism. Why would you pick something else when a particular LED is the closest to your sweet spot ?

And why do you need to judge people by your own standards ?
If you consider that the luminous SST-20 4000K is better for you, fine.
If other people consider that the nichia 219b sw 45K is better for them, fine.

I have also finally received my E07 - gray, xp-l hi v2 3A.
I have a few of the same problems as Lux-Perpetua with my copy.
Unscrewed head. All dirty.

And one more thing

Well, I do not think so. Your aux leds inside do not work.
I have the same

You can barely see the outermost ring of aux LEDs with the optic installed. I’m betting they do work correctly.

they will work for sure, but only if voltage of battery is below 3V or so  try it out and you will see the “red light of danger” :smiling_imp:

Indeed! I didn’t know it’s a battery indicator.
But I noticed that my “HOT” is not in the middle. Perfectionist’s hell. :rage:

:stuck_out_tongue:

did you also notice your aux led lights in the switch aren’t square to the sides of the light?

lol they’re a lot more square than they are in my PL47 but they definitely ain’t centered

Mass is caused largely by that super thick and heavy shelf. Which is worth well under 10% in sustained output. And not because of thickness but because larger head has larger surface. Well, strictly speaking thicker shelf reduces thermal resistance and therefore reduces LED temperature. But that’s well under 1%.

Mass improves turbo time, that’s it.

That’s how they are supposed to work. Outer and Middle rings light up all the time (depending on Anduril setting).

However, the innermost ring is the low voltage indicator. It is only supposed to light up when voltage is low.

my attempt to show the LVD LEDs

Thicker shelf avoid bottleneck to the fins that where reworked to increase the surface of exchange with air by convection. With the final prototype, heat has a better thermal path and larger surface for being evacuated = higher sustainable output. Right ?
It was redesigned, not to improve compacity but thermal management, and there isn’t 36 differents ways to achieve it with passive cooling, isn’t it ?

I was responding to Ektasis that no, it wasn’t designed and redesigned for maximum compacity. If it has this final shape, it is for better thermal management, or I missed something reading this thread since day1.

Anyone else here having trouble getting “Add to Cart” button to work on ff-light.com? I tried in 2 different browsers, but it doesn’t function.
