Picked up two 18650's off the street

Pretty beat up pair of green 18650's with just a paper label kind of like this ^ .. although my label says

IMR18650 2500mAh 3.7V

I did what any average good upstanding citizen would do and picked them up off the ground to add to my bag of dead batteries that are heading to be recycled that happens to be in my car.

But as any true Flashaholic would do I had to put them on the tester to see what the true story was .

Cell #1 had 4.06v and a internal resistance of(12 mΩ)

Cell #2 was 4.08 and (32 mΩ)

What do you think ?

would you use them /toss them or sell them to a friend ?

Really depends on their external condition. If you can rewrap them and then they will be fine, use them. If they are severely dented then toss them.

Going to go back tomorrow and see if they will leave a few more .

No dents.... just little nicks in the wrap .I'll either re-wrap them or hit them with clear nail polish .

no dents, they were not discharged, low int impedance - i would do a capacity test with a charger, then use or sell

I was kidding about selling them ....

I have no friends.

Good find…. :+1:

Surely you have friends on BLF...

You're one of the funniest people here!

As they are both over 4V they are very good batteries you can simply use it if you can donate to enyone who could use it. .

I wouldn’t trust them.

Huh ?!—Who or What are you referring to ? The found on the street 18650 batteries ,

the people the 18650’s are going to be donated to or what

:stuck_out_tongue: :rage:

What? After all we have been through. :frowning: :person_facepalming:

But they say Trustfire right on the label!!

What about enemies?

Frienemies?

Pretenemies?

How’bout palholes?

Run those bad boys through a couple of charge - discharge cycles and if they don’t go nuclear…. use em’. (Provided they are not dented of course)

Might want to do it outside in a safe place just in case they Do go nuclear however.

look around the area for a vape mod.
i have had them that ran up to 4 cells.
high drain cells on the street=lost mod.

Whenever I get a no name cell, I usually test its capacity (out of pure curiosity), and then discharge it and toss it. I have plenty of brand name cells, so I don’t feel the need to keep the unknown ones in circulation.

I see a GiveAway thread in your future.

This looks like a Sony VTC5… A very decent high drain cell if genuine. If they are not damaged, it could be worth putting them to test in a charger - in a safe way as mentioned above, just in case.

And weight them to check with other cells weight. Low quality cells are usually noticeably lighter.

It also makes sense to stick a label on a VTC because there’s nothing written on them - or so barely readable. This most certainly comes from a vape shop. How they ended up on the street can only be guessed. Some mod user just lost the spares he was carrying? He/she’s probably missing them.

peel the sticker and look for printing.
the sticker is for shipping regulations.
i also suspect sony vtc5.
nice for a high drain light like a well driven triple.
as for safety i would have no problem using those.

SOLD.... to Moderator007
