Andúril 2 coming to Sofirn - The general Sofirn development thread

That is hilarious! :smiley:Thanks for sharing that Lightbringer:+1:

The ‘word break’ for …“See More” was perfect on that one.

C8F 21700 and AT35( new series prototype, supposed to be a thrower, max distance is 700 meters) by xiaomi M8 smartphone under sunlight

compare the size and anodizing

C8F 21700 beam (about 1 meter from the wall, 1/125 shutter speed, xiaomi M8 smartphone )

AT35 Prototype beam (about 1 meter from the wall, 1/125 shutter speed, xiaomi M8 smartphone )

Barry why do you do this to my wallet?

What emitter will it be using? I assume 21700 also

(resized those pics… )

Looking good!! I really like the look of the AT35 Prototype. Got any more details about it… LED, reflector… smooth or OP, UI, anything?? .

It looks real good…… Nice size also.

Okay, let's do a quick recap of the new lights Sofirn is going to develop:

Sofirn SP40A:
headlamp, SST-20 4.000K 95CRI, 18350 or 16340 battery tube, 700 lumens

status: prototype phase

Sofirn SP40B:

headlamp, XP-L (HD?), reflector and/or TIR lens, hopefully not colder than 5.700K, 18650 battery tube, 1,200 lumens

status: prototype phase

Sofirn C8G:

basically the C8 21700 host, 12V boost driver design, single XHP35 HI with SMO reflector, 2,000 lumens, approx. 550m range

status: prototype phase

Sofirn D25S:

basically the "Boruit" D25 but with a better UI and SST-40 LEDs (I wish they were 5.000K neutral white ones but I presume these are the veeery cold ones with 6.500-7.000K)

status: ready to manufacturing? (not confirmed)

Sofirn "AT35"

a new host design, very much like a short Convoy L2?, probably 26650 tube, probably XHP35 HI, probably SMO reflector

status: prototype phase

Sofirn SP70:

the new big searchlight/allround thrower using XHP70.2 (6.000-6.500K), light OP reflector, FET driver, 2x26650 tube, approx. 5,000 - 7,000 lumens

status: in production

Barry, I greatly appreciate that you keep us updated about new developments. Please could you give us more information, especially on the C8G's boost driver and the new AT35 prototype? Will that be the final name, AT35? Will AT35 and C8G use the same 12V boost driver?

Thanks a lot! Cheers,

Thomas

XHP35 HI, 550m? But I guess in a smaller reflector like C8G, we’re not talking TN42 size here, so still pretty good

I definitely want an XHP35 HI beast….

I’m veeeery much interested what 12V boost driver Sofirn will be using in the C8G (and probably in the AT35 as well). So far, there is not much of a choice when it comes to 12V boost drivers that fit small flashlights like Convoy S11, Convoy C8/Sofirn C8S or even Convoy L2. Kaidomain’s H1-A can only deliver 1A @ 12V, too little to get more than 1,700 lumens on turbo. I’m still in touch with BanL to gather more information how to find the right resistor to mod. Barkuti also posted some interesting suggestions I need to check these days.

If Sofirn were to offer another 12V boost driver (maybe sold seperately), it would be a great thing to see.

I’m more interested in distance, but I can appreciate that a bit over 2000 lumens would be needed for good throw.

I really need to learn a bit more about drivers etc…

Sofirn usually builds their own drivers, don’t they? I’ve never heard of them using a driver from somebody else - unless it was something that a BLF member helped to design.

Great update post Lux-Perpetua. That outlines things very well.

Thank you!!

The possibility of choosing CCT on older models of flashlight when you plan to implement?
I still want to get SP33 XHP50 ~3000K or ~4000K.

None of them have USB charge? :weary:

None of what? Upcoming lights? Existing lights?

I know some existing lights, such as the SC31, do have USB charging. And the images I’ve seen of the potential new headlamps (SP40A & SP40B) show a USB cover.

I think I saw a USB cover on their headlamp picture.

You did

A ‘rubber plugged’ USB port…. :person_facepalming: .

.
How much better something like this would be. Safe, secure, & sealed. :+1:
.

Thanks! That’s a great update. C8G uses 12V driver. AT35 is not confirmed yet, sofirn is not satisfied with the prototype, maybe will redesign.

Cant wait for the headlamp!

Thanks for adding me to the FB group Barry

(Now to get a few (more) lights…)
