i have a real Photon micro like, back in the day when i got it it set me back £12 
I expect to get 40-50 of them for that price. OK the Photon is probably far better made, but.......
that was when then came out first though you couldn't anything that bright for much less..
I now remember someone saying he'd spent £20 on a blue LED light about as bright as a glow-worm. They've certainly got cheaper and brighter.
i have maybe a 10 yr old photon X, it really has a useful and powerful UI and a lot of features
even some features that flashlights do not have, like variable freq blinky
ramping, momentary OR on/off mode selection

I keep a Battery Junction freebie on my keychain and have for 6-7 years. Never accidentally turns on, coin cells last a long time and are easily replaced and they output enough light to do basic tasks.
If I lose it, I don’t care, as I have others.

Everybody should have one on the car keyring.
Wife swears by hers. and after around 6 or 8 yrs. I replaced it’s battery.

I have four lights on my keychain. 
One Photon 2 clone and three real keychain lights.
I almost never use them, though, because they're my backup lights.

i hotrod them with a ebay high cri led and a lir2032.
for the intended purpose they still last a long time on a charge and then you recharge rather than replace the cell.
did the same to a few original photons too.
I still have some of the clones laying around, but they likely all have dead batteries by now. One of these used to always be on my keychain for quick low lumen use, but it has since been replaced with a Nitecore Tube for more versatility and is easily rechargeable.
