[Review] Lumintop Tool AA 2.0 - Testing Output, Regulation & PWM for AA and 14500

If you really want a Tool AAA to tail stand, just get the magnetic tail cap. You loose the push-button option so it becomes a twisty only, but the magnetic tail cap is flat, and allows the Tool AAA to stand just fine.

The more recent ones print 2.0 on the flashlight, like this.

Thanks eyeballfryer

Gonna debunk something I saw earlier - the Tool AAA does work with 10440, I gave it a shot and it works fine. Gets pretty hot, though

But yes, lack of tail stand is a bit annoying - as is the force required for full click, it’s seriously meaty.

Someone said it before but it needs repeating,
This AA Tool 2.0 has the best high def high CRI cool white emitter that I have ever seen.
The detail is just incredible in all the modes. This would be a handy detective/Cop investigative detail operation flashlight, nothing can hide.

Blown away, plus they got rid of the PWM and hid the strobe.
Add on the reversible clip, Alkaline, Ni-MH and 14500 capabilities and this thing is Pure EDC heaven for me at least.

Get the Vipon code and steal one for $9 while you can!

I think I was the one that mentioned this, but in another review. The tint on this Tool’s XP-L is nothing short of a treat, easily the nicest cool white I have ever seen. You can tell for sure its CCT is high, but it doesn’t wash out reds and yellows like we’ve come to expect; it just looks nice.

Holy crap, you’re not kidding, that is a steal :open_mouth: I’d nab another one if I wasn’t so short on dosh this month.

what’s a Vipon code? and where do you get it for $9?

They are all gone, it was like that for 1 week. vipon.com

darn, wanted to give the AA a try since I like the AAA.

Couldn’t resist anymore. Bought one. Great light! Love the tint.

That is better than the AAA. The AAA’s switch is so rigid, I tend to turn off the light instead of switching modes. Also, the AAA don’t work with 10440, while the AA works with 14500 battery.

It does, even though it doesn’t say so on the specs

I don’t dear to try it.
Also, I heard that after this it won’t work with AAA batteries.

At least, in 2015, the tester doesn’t mention if a 10440 kills the electronics or not

Edit: I have found the same test here

Mine runs mainly on 10440, I got 350 lumens with a 219C.
Though if I want I can still pop an Eneloop in there and got some conservative levels

Does a protected 14500 fit? if so, which one to recommend.

Anyone happen to find a good deep pocket clip for their AA Tool 2.0 these days?

I did this to mine:

It uses an Olight M1T Raider clip!

However, I am using in another version of the Tool AA flashlight:

Not anymore! It had too many accidental activations :zipper_mouth_face:

Oh nice! I like that. Do you find it to be pretty secure? Doesn’t turn or come off easily I imagine. Looks like this is it here for $4

I haven’t been using the Tool AA body just the head with the Nitefox ES10K Stainless steel tube, so I can’t provide a good idea of retention and activation so far! Within some weeks, after changing the led and driver, i will use it with that body and then I’ll be able to provide more info

:+1: Very nice mod!
