ALL THINGS BUDGET KNIVES

TwoSun TS25

Twosuns are getting so hard to buy now.

Is that so?

It’s difficult to get them dirt cheap anymore but they are definitely available.

Maybe I won’t get another TS51 for $43 though

yea I got so many for $40 before, but now it’s impossible because people bid crazy amounts!
I paid $34 for the TS51, but it’s the worst of all because it opens very hard

I think you just hold it the wrong way and have one of your fingers on the lockbar.
It’s a bit tricky to get used to it but then it opens pretty smoothly.

Well, that’s the market. They are well worth to be in the $60 range when it’s about quality but the TS51’s clip is crap without modification

I have posted about these GoComma Knives in this thread before.

This is a True Budget Knife at around $10, plus or minus… I kid you not.

The fit n’ finish is as good as my Benchmades, better than a few of them in fact. “And I love Benchmades…. but this statement is just fact”.

The clip is the only thing lacking with this knife. It is just so - so & needs some TLC & and tweeking. But for 10 bucks…. so what.

The blade claims to be D2. I have no idea if it is, BUT… the blade will hold an edge.

You miss this little “sleeper”…… you lose.

Excellent knife!

Anybody have the the KA-BAR BK7?

Opinion?

I’m pretty sure it would be a good knife if it’s got Beckers nake on it… no personal experience with it however.

I can give you an opinion though…. from experience. Go with an ESEE .

They are great… any of them. :+1:

ESEE are good, but you’ve got to have small hands. No idea why but they seem to have the smallest handles ever.

Never had a ESEE. I have a few HX Outdoors D-171 fixed blade knives. I love the handle and it seems pretty stout. I haven’t really abused it yet but I’m sure I will come camping weather.

I have the big KABAR, from a decade ago. It has served cutting and chopping down lambs, goats and still looks new. I don’t have a clever, but who cares. It’s a beast of a knife.

Of course the boss wondered why I bought it at the time, but never fails to use it when she doesn’t trust her dainty Henckels.

Quarter inch body and keeps its sharpness even after bone chopping.

I should of bought the K7 years ago….

Hmmm, I guess that boils down to personal preference. My hands are not even close to “small” & I find the size of ESEE handles just fine.

Different strokes for different folks I guess. :+1:

My trusty HX Outdoors has served me well. Great knives and exceptional value. I am very fond of my lasted stone washed HX.

TwoSun power

TS57, TS25, TS21, TS16, TS103:

Ah, yes … TWO sun(s)

Can I get some thoughts on the following knives please?

Ganzo G727M - BK Foldable Knife with Axis Lock and Clip
LAND 9103 Frame Lock Pocket Folding Knife
Gocomma Quick Open Folding Knife

Note that these aren’t for self defence or anything (I feel perfectly safe in my area), more to use as a tool for when I need a knife. Pops up a lot at work, but would probably be EDC too (although would have to check appropriate laws…)

Thanks!

I find that the ESEE 3 is a 3 finger knife and its a tough squeeze to get 4 on the ESEE 4. Once you move up to the 5 its a little better. But if I were wearing gloves I just can’t seem to get grip that I find secure enough on most of the smaller ESEEs.

But everyone has different hands and I am sure that many people find that the ESEEs have plenty large enough handles.

I can give personal experience feedback on one of them.

No feedback

Looks like a Chris Reeve Sebenza knockoff

This one, the GoComma; I can give you personal experience feedback!!

I give this knife a 99 out of 100. The missing “one point” is for a so-so clipwitat needs a bit of TLC & slight tweeking to fit the thicker pocket of blue jeans.

The blade is hollow ground & came hair popping sharp. The blade is advertised as D2 steel. At this point I have no idea if it really is or not. BUT… wharever steel it is, it will hold an edge.

With my first one I have cut at least 200 feet of various thickness cardboard, some rope, hacked on a pine 2x4, hacked on a dry hickory stick, cut summer sausage & done some whittling…. it will still shave hair. I have not sharpened it since I got it. The reason for all the things I just mentioned, especially the cardboard cutting & hacking; is to see how long it will hold an edge & just what it takes to dull it.

Quite frankly…. I am shocked & amazed at this preformance from a $10 knife!! But it is what it is.

I was so amazed at this first one I got ‘a couple months ago’ I ordered 17 more. To sell a few, have a couple of spares, & gift the rest.

6 have already arrived & seems to be the same quality. Fit n’ finish is spot on, and blade is centered. I have not had a chance to do much cut testing with the just arrived ones yet… but initial testing seems to be on par with the first one. :+1:

Sorry if I rambled.

I highly recommend this GoComma…

Here is what I wrote about it on BF….

Thanks! I think the main issue now is shipping and importation into Australia - they’re pretty strict on that kind of thing, IIRC. GearBest are more than happy to ship stuff, but I don’t really want to order things then have them stopped at the border and destroyed.
