Gocomma assisted & manual flipper knives

1 package/6 GoComma knives arrived today.

The fit n’ finish & quality appears to be the same as the first one I got a ‘couple’ months ago.
Blade very sharp & as stated before, a so-so clip.
Over the next few days I’ll check the ‘edge holding’ ability of the blade.

So far so good on this batch though…. :+1:

Oh yeah, 12 days by China EMS ePacket. Not bad at all.
Shipped 3 April, delivered 15 April. Shipping was $1.15 for this package.

FYI…. my shipping experiences have been:

  • China EMS ePacket / Paid-FREE sometimes = Pretty fast delivery (P or F)
  • Belgium Post / FREE = Pretty slow
  • Belgium Post / Registered (paid))= Pretty fast slow
  • Netherlands Post / FREE = Not to bad

1. “Pretty fast” = 10 - 14 days

2. “Not to bad” = 15 - 20 days

3. “Pretty slow” = 21 days & up

I got one of the Belgian Post ones, probably the slow one… :confounded:

Maybe you will have a different experience than me.

The other 3 of mine were Free Shipping. 2 Netherland Post & 1 Belgium Post.
All 4, including the 1 I got today; shipped 3 April.

3 started “moving” immediately. The Belgium Post package did not start moving until 8 days later… 11 April. :person_facepalming:

There was no choice of ‘carrier’ for FREE Shipping… it was just assigned by GB.

On the one that came today there was no choice of FREE… China ePacket was cheapest at $1.15.

Just looked, I paid 3bux for tracking (via BP).

Yeah, I got in 6 of those little “Damascus” knives last week. There was no FREE option on that order, the only option (besides DHL) was Belgium Post Registered for $3.31. It is tracked until the USPS gets it, but no USPS Tracking; it just shows up & signature is required.
Tracking updates after it is delivered on the “generic tracking sites.

Best I remember FREE & ‘Slow’ Belgium Post requires signature too.

’To me’, their is no rhyme or reason to any of this shipping stuff… .

I think it is an absolute miracle any of it gets here as quick as it does… or at all.

It looks like a logistic nightmare ’to me’.

That’s what I recently grexed about very recently, ie, “shipping roulette”.

Oh, btw; I went back to check & had to edit my post above. :open_mouth:

FREE Belgium Post & PAID Belgium Post REGISTERED are both equally slow. :person_facepalming:

That has been my experience so far anyway…. :+1:

Musta overstuffed themselves on waffles…

Hmmm.
What gets me. Is.
No matter which Post. Belgian, Whatever. Paid or not,
Insured or not.

Fom China. to Queensland Aust. Regardless of dealer.

28 to 34 days……NEVER less. Guaranteed.

99% (so far) HAS got through with no damage
and only a couple somebody liked more than me.

They bloody marvelous when you think about the volumes involved…

@ Macka17

I agree mate, it is somewhat amazing things get delivered as well as they do. :+1:

Which knives did you get? I’ve been thinking about getting something small for on my belt, but haven’t been sure what will and won’t get past customs.

Trying to work out what I like the look of (and learning more about what tech is behind them etc).

Cheers!

Hey.

I’m just a starter on these folding knives.
Had nothing but Puma for 50 yrs and more.
Recently.
After reading a lot and taking note of reviews/opinions etc.
I tend to stick to Martiini for fixed (So far but that may change)
Puma are beautiful. but Blade materials and profiles are waaaay behind.

For my Keyring knife. I have a coupla SOG Micro2’s One on each kayring.
Yet to find a “Flat as” knife to take up less pocket space.
Just waiting for a …

Hmm Just lost the ferkin’ lot……………………………

My Knives.

Puma. Fixed and fold. Old school.

Martiini fixed OOOOld.
Home made Saw Blade Skinners. OOOOOOOOolder.
But still skin a Buff/Cow/Roo. like you wouldn’t believe.

I Personally can’t see the point in spending zillions of $$$’s on blades or Torches.
That’s just me though.

Good reviewed Quality Chinese blades have come on a lot recently.

Ganzo. Kershaw. Go Comma. San renmu. Y-Start.
ALL make good blades with 440c or D2.

I have SOG Micro2 on car Key ring.
SRM 6040? Maybe on other keys
with clip off to thin it out.
Ganzo Firebird F753m Fits/Feels good.
Pocket knife.
Ganzo G733. BIG for me. Folder .
with beaut Spyderco blade in 440c
Probably keep as spare just cause of beautiful blade.

Y-Start –02. as my out bush on belt folder. alongside Martiini.
With Axe and Chain Saw in ute tray.

DON’T want to start a knife collection.
Just a few handy well fitting blades for whatever.
half a doz MAX….

I have 4 or 5 in mail.
Gonna give them away after thinking about it.
plus at least two of these here now.
Keyring x 2. Pocket. Belt. Fixed and maybe a spare or 2.
Maybe.

Sit and figure out WHAT, and WHY you want and why.
What blade shape/size. Handle. Scales. and $$$$’s.

If collecting. Forget I spoke.
Just keep buying old camera cases and go for it.
You’ll get 50 or 60 per.
AND.
Have fun. ALL these hobbies are great.
As long as missus allows the expenditure hey.

Regards
Macka

Oweban.

Regarding a carry.
Remember. 1 inch of blade in right place will bleed anybody out.
It’s NOT…. WHAT you carry.
It’s HOW TO USE, what you carry.
BIG Blades are just Psychological.
My little SOG Micro’s will drain out the biggest bloke at armpit. neck,
inside elbow. Wrist etc. and he won’t even feel it.
Same with my little SRM 6029 Or Maybe the coming
SRM 6040??.
with keyring in end hole to swing it on little pinkie. 1 1\2 in Blade is all you need specially with keyring on your
little finger.

Put ALL your iffy gear in luggage. You won’t get any type of blade through any scanner nowadays.
and keep ALL blades chef edged.

Heh, this isn’t for self defence or anything, basically an alternative to a leatherman on my belt. I found I use the blade in my work a lot more than the rest, so I’m thinking 2-3” tops, what I’ve been putting in my fob pocket lately is this:

But was thinking something a little more refined might be nice to go along with EDC torch. It won’t be going on a plane, by customs I was more meaning stuff being rejected as it arrives in the mail.

But yeah, I’ll check out those Chinese brands; something simple and low fuss but with a nice mechanism.

Got my knives today and I LOVE THEM!
I’m not knife guy so this is best I ever had.
Or I am knife guy now? :sunglasses:

You sound like a “knife guy” now to me. :+1: .

Glad they arrived & glad you like them.

Post lady ’tried’ to deliver 6 more of my GoCommas yesterday, but signature was required & I was not home to sign. :person_facepalming: .
Oh well… tomorrow will work.
Had another package from GB too with other stuff in it.

Both were Belgium Post. Did I forget to mention before that Belgium Post requires signature for delivery.

These were my 4th & 5th packages by Belgium Post that required signature. I missed them all on the first delivery attempt.

Anybody else got theirs yet?

Pffft. Yeah, sure.

I predict you will get them this week….

I looked on Gearbest for new Gocomma knives.

There's one that's new and in stock.

It has a wood handle and it says it's damascus.

It is not a flipper, it doesn't say the blade length, and there are no reviews at the moment.

It's not my cup of tea, but I'm super picky.
