*BLF LT1 Lantern Project) (updated Nov,17,2020)

Knurling could be a possibility for the production model.

If they want to do ‘knurling’ on that top piece, they might have to cut it instead of using the knurling tool, because the sides are angled, not perfect cylinders. If they changed it to cylinders, it could be done with the knurling tool and would look pretty good, IMHO.

Put me in for one, thx.

As long as it doesn’t delay this any longer. Personally, I don’t care about knurling, since you can’t see it anyway when in use.

Somewhere I recall seeing some bling that could be laser engraved in that area…

…oh yeah! Now I remember:

I would probably be wrapping the top edge & lower section with paracord for my personal uses, and likely cover up the knurling in some cases.

Yes! i nearly forgot that too. The logo could be etched on each side of the top head, (180 degrees around)

The prototype looks amazing, can’t wait to see a full video about it. And we definitly need that logo somewhere on it, but maybe we should also add some fins to the upper section depending on the temperature. And what are these silicon pieces left and right of the usb port good for? Do they just cover screws or are some sort of charging indicator LEDs underneath them?

We’ve discussed about it with Barry, and these are LED indicators for charging.

The reason for using them is that they are more water resistant than using the regular, and most importantly, they are easier to put it compared to multi-LEDs in the main switch, and obviously, this is to make it to easy if it is charging or not, a better method compared to the SP36.

This is looking sick. I’m glad it’s almost ready! Between this and the fw3a I need to get my wallet ready lol. Keep up the good work! (Also is there any news on the LEDs, temperature and cri being used?)

2700K to 5000K Hi CRI, (above 90.

Thanks!

More great news! Thanks for the updates, Den. :+1:

Honestly, I’d be happy with a lantern that looks like your first or second hand-made prototypes.

I think they look great, especially with the wear on the annodizing.

Its closer to the second prototype build, but slightly bigger top, tint-mixing, better modes, USB-C built in charging, all the features we need in a lantern light combined that has not been available ever before in any lantern regardless of price.

Does the lantern have some type of colored lights when voltage gets lower such as 4.2v green, 3.8v orange, 3.6v red or something like that?

The features are really amazing. This will be my first quality led lantern and between the tint mixing and the way you designed the “beam” I don’t think that I will go back to my gas powered ones.

Not that i’m aware of, but woudl be a good feature. The firmware was developed by Toykeeper , and driver design by Lexel.

I am also a gas lantern collector & builder! meaning i have done many comparisons & developed this LT1 LED lantern to stand & run with the gas lanterns. ( here is a few of my restored vintage gas lanterns.

I’m sure this question was asked somewhere in the last 130 pages but will flat top cells work ok?

Like the BLF Q8, it will require button tops.
