[Request] BLF IPHONE APP

Don't you think it's time for BLF iPhone app like CPF??

it would be very nice if you guys do it. I don't like the fact that I have to go to safari every time I need to browse the BLF website

I will pay for it if you do it and I think other members here don't mind that too.

So what you think??

1 Thank

No, just no.

Otherwise, Mr. Admin will have to maintain both the website and the app, and every time he wants to update the site, he’ll have to update the app too. And things can break, etc.

Something like a web wrapper would be good to make a BLF shortcut, but not more than that should be needed,

He’ll also need to pay for fees on Apple devices.

I am against it.

1 Thank

It will make everything much easier for us

I like the regular site, I would probably never use the app

3 Thanks

Well you don't know that for sure until you try it

Well, I know I’ll never use an iPhone!

2 Thanks

EffffffffffffffffffffAppps

Whut’s a iphone?

I like apps. I would try it.

I would say… it depends! Some forums out there have really good apps and quality content, the mobile usage is high as well. But in many other cases there were development efforts, plenty of costs/time involved and people just… didn’t use the mobile forum app at all.

No iPhone at hand, only Android. Checked this site on my cell and it looks ok?

Honestly, the app craze thing is lame. A properly configured browser can do anything any forum may request, here I am typing this message inside my bed with my 5.2" Zuk Z2 with a full-blown onscreen keyboard.

I also feel very sorry for iUsers, you are paying insane amounts of money for outrageously overpriced products and on top of this you allow yourselves to be fully at the mercy of Apple software wise… NO.

Don’t want to get into the whole iphone vs android thing, lot of venues to argue that elsewhere.

My problem with the “App” craze is most of them are an open invite to hacking, the programmers get lazy and or underfunded and let holes in the software or just make a clunky program compared to he full fledged PC version.
They cost money and in case we all forgot, here we are BUDGET , even says so in our name

Rant off, do what you will.

I would like to know whether any/how many people actually use this forum from a mobile device.
Are most folks here at home after work/at night to contribute? Or is this something to visit during your lunch break?

The web version works perfectly fine both on my mac at home and on my Android phone.

I am on here daily pretty much all day. Early morning before the house awakes, like now, I’m on my i8. Once in a while, if the wife is sick and sleeping, I may use my iPad, other than that type of scenario I am on my PC.

The only times I even notice a real difference when on my i8 is when there are large pictures or excessive signature lines. Not usually that big a deal except for when either of those is from a member that posts frequently. A really long sig line in the posts of a member steadily posting away fills pages with that signature.

No need for anyone to feel sorry for someone making a different choice than they did. I didn’t even get a smart phone until a couple of years ago because they were mostly all so big, started with the Apple SE for it’s small size then moved up to the i8 for it’s power to run my Canon app without overheating (essentially live streaming full frame 4K video). To each his/her own, yes?

Our admin does a fine job running this site, he and only he will be able to ascertain the viability of a BLF app, I personally would not be likely to use it as I find it simpler to bookmark the page and use the standard form.

Why not android app? If I am not wrong… android has more users than Iphones…

Please leave it just the way it is now. And if in doubt: do a poll. I will vote for NO THNX.

To my knowledge this site is owned and operated by our admin, I do not know the extent of the resources required to run BLF but knowing it’s privately owned would be asking for even more expensive additions, apps of either kind would certainly be taxing to develop and maintain… at what point do they pay for all the effort? When millions use them I can see it, but we are a mere ~28,000 strong, not likely worth it when so few would be likely to use it.

You can turn any website into an app by adding it to your home screen on I devices.

I’d love for there to be an app, or at least a mobile friendly layout.

The app is a no-go for me too. But some tweaks to make it more mobile friendly would be appreciated.
