@Toykeeper, could you please ask Lumintop/Neal if they could order LH351Ds from say Digikey/Arrow, and tell them that we are willing to pay a higher price for them if they can get it?
I know they don’t want to pay the 20-25% taxes in relation to this, but a higher priced LH351D might allieavate this.
Do we have confirmation that the issue is actually taxes (or even cost-related)? I would think they'd have mentioned that, given how readily they said "XPL-HI costs more". It would probably be pretty easy for Lumintop to sell a LH351D version for the same price as XPL-HI...
I see now why the FW3A clip (photo left) sticks out, probably because they needed it to be wider for strength. If flush to the surface the clip would be too thin and weak. My guess on the hole would be for some strain relief and flexibility. (I just hope that it’s an optical illusion or proto-type that the two edges of the clip aren’t equal width.) FWIW, Fritz’s original design stuck out too.
The ZL clip (photo right) is significantly wider and oriented differently. Some might find it too prominent on the face of the light.
They appear to be FB4. I have the same in my D4 and D4S and have been happy with them. I’d love to have some below BBL, but like Scallywag said, I’ve never seen one to date.
I should probably go ahead and get another one since I’d like one in the first batch and it sounds like the high CRI will be further down the road. So if you can put me down for two instead of 1 like in my original post. Thanks for all the amazing work guys!
People have been wondering about the color of the clip. So… here’s an attempt to show how it looks. It’s a little tricky to get good pictures of reflective objects, so I took a few from different angles. Some pictures are underexposed to avoid making the clips appear pure white.
The light and dark pattern in some pics is a reflection of window blinds.
Laying flat, reflecting a darker part of the room:
So the color really depends on the angle and depends on what else is nearby. It’s some sort of smokey chrome finish.
