FW3A, a TLF/BLF EDC flashlight - SST-20 available, coupon codes public

Thanks, teacher.

My faultā€”I was looking at just the numbers assigned. I hadnā€™t yet looked at associated names. I now see that on the original interest list, the sequential order number is not the same as the notification list (I had mistakenly assumed it would be the same number set). Glad to see Iā€™m on it (my interest list number is 1925, but I see that Iā€™m on the notify list).

3D is far too cool for me, 7A all the way!

Itā€™s all personal preference. I love 4000K best, 4500K is okay (great during the day) and below 4000K is good as well for night time. Some people prefer cooler tints. Just because they are wrong doesnā€™t mean they canā€™t enjoy them

You need to re-read what she wrote. A PM is sent every 95 seconds. End of story.
Weā€™re not trying to calculate with moon landing accuracy on thisā€¦ā€¦

I think Iā€™ll get the 7A, Iā€™m a warm tint person but id lean 4000K. Anything over 5000k is too dang blue.

No, she said every 90 seconds is what the script is set to, but she didnā€™t think to account for the page load times which is about 5 seconds.

quote of the year!

Exactlyā€¦ which means a PM is sent every 95 seconds.

Please add another for a total of two. Thank you for your time and efforts.

Just ordered my two lights, both 7A. I was thrilled to see the warm white option. It is so rare that I mostly assume Iā€™ll need to swap emitters in any new flashlight. I know Iā€™m in the minority here, but anything 4000K and above is too cool. 3000-3500K is the sweet spot; colors pop and look more alive, to my eyes at least. Itā€™s always good to have options!

Thank you, TK and the whole FW3A team. Iā€™m sure this light will be worth the long wait.

Heyā€¦ to each their own. 7A looks like a Hot Death Rayā€¦ but if a few like that, no problem. Everyone is entitled to mistakes in lifeā€¦ 7A being one of them.

3D is the overwhelming clear choice of the twoā€¦ā€¦
But your rightā€¦. it is all about personal preference.

Please put me down for a second one. Thanks!

I donā€™t know, but it sounds like it would take about a month to get the first item. I doubt the coupon will still be active in a month, but you would have to ask Neal.

If Lumintop and Neal can be convinced to offer more flavors, it would be nice to have a cool white version. I suggested 7A, 5A, 3D, and 2A (~3200K, ~4100K, ~4900K, ~5900K). However, they are hesitant to make too many flavors.

I donā€™t want a cool white one for myself though. I generally prefer ~4100K to ~4900K. But Iā€™m pretty sure JasonWW would like to have a cool white version.

I donā€™t have emitter type data in the list, but Iā€™ll definitely add everyone as soon as the current batch of messages finishesā€¦ and then send a second batch.

If youā€™re already on the list though, you wonā€™t be in the second batch of messages. Simply use the URL and coupon from your first message to order whichever lights you want.

I donā€™t know yet when or how Neal is planning to do the SST-20. Maybe itā€™ll have a new coupon, maybe itā€™ll use the same one as before.

In any case, youā€™re #905 on the list, and it just sent out message #929. So maybe youā€™ve already ordered.

For me thrower = cool white, flooder = warm white.

Could you please put me on the list for a second one, high CRI version even if there isnā€™t separated lists for emitters.
I wouldnā€™t want to miss this opportunity if there is a new code later for high CRI.

Thank you in advance.

Congratulations to the FW3A teamā€¦beau travail moussaillons !

Just ordered one in 3D. Big thanks to everyone who made this project a reality!

So just to confirm, if I was on the list for one which I just ordered, but would also like to get a group buy light in high CRI, I donā€™t need to be added to the new list?

Youā€™re #1225 on the list, and it just sent out #949. So you should be able to order later today sometime. Maybe 7 hours away?

Me too. Thereā€™s a lot happening.

But yes, everyone on the list should get a private message with ordering instructions. The PM list is here:

http://toykeeper.net/torches/fw3a/privmsg.lst

ā€¦ and when the current batch of messages is done, the plan is to update the list with all the new requests and send a second batch of messages. But the list closes as soon as the first batch of messages is complete.

Itā€™s on #949 of 1544, and it does one message every 95 seconds. So it looks like thereā€™s about 15.7 hours left to get on the list. Or maybe a bit more because Iā€™ll probably be asleep when the first batch finishes.

Iā€™m a bit on the fence on what to do. I really want to get one in my hands as fast as possible, but I would really prefer the LH351D (top option) or SST-20 over the XP-L. It would be helpful to know if thereā€™s an approximate timeframe for the SST-20 and whether or not the coupon will still work for that option.

Not a huge deal either wayā€”if we donā€™t know any more when my number comes up Iā€™ll just buy the XP-L. But then I guess I should ask to be added for a 2nd light for the next round?? Decisions, decisions!

Thanks to folks for posting when theyā€™ve ordered, as it gives us a sense of how far away we are from notification. Looks like Iā€™ll be getting my PM somewhere between 1am ~ 2am.

I get your point, but also think neutral white is good for everything. I do like warm tints, especially to make colors more vivid, I just wonder if 7A is TOO warm, hence being on the fence. Teacherā€™s death ray description made me laugh, but also makes me think I should just get a couple 3Dā€™s instead of one of each. There will also be a warmer SST-20 down the road sometime.

As it was stated earlier, the SST-20 will be priced less because of the emitter. There will probably be a coupon for it too. I have no idea how much of a discount, though. However, if the XP-L HI runs out, you probably wonā€™t have any trouble trading yours for someone elseā€™s SST-20. Just something to consider.

Part of the struggle is that we do perceive light a little differently (I donā€™t know if itā€™s actual optical variations in eye composition, psychological, or just preference), so first hand experience is usually the best way to decide. Iā€™m really curious about the combination of build quality, switch operation, and UI implementation. If itā€™s as good as everyone is expecting, then having two (one neutral, one warm) would solve the problem. Iā€™m also curious about how difficult it will be to change out the emitter. There are different degrees of talent involved, depending upon how its implemented. Given the price of the light, emitter swap done by someone else would far exceed the light costā€¦ which would be painful.
