Oh, I understand now.

The 1st orders will be shipped before May 1st, as this is when Labour Day festivities start.

And so, the rest of the orders will be shipped after May 8th.

Smart move IMO.

Searching around on Google I found the below angles (not official):

The 10511 is called a narrow spot. 22°
The 10508 is called a medium spot. 27°
The 10509 is called a wide spot. 40°
All of the above are frosted.

The 10507 is the non-frosted, clear version with a narrow spot. 18°

I think it’s fair to say that the angles might vary a little based on which emitter is under them. So I would view the above angles as a loose reference guide.

Got my message. Ordered my 3D. I’ll buy more later. Thanks everyone. Btw, I was #1293 on the list.

Geez… wait until the last minute, why doncha? Smile

The interest list is now closed, with KawiBoy1428 as the very last request.

The final total for BLF’s list is 1670 people, 2479 lights.
(this includes people who signed up then cancelled, so the actual number is slightly lower)

The second batch of messages will start in just a moment, with a much shorter delay between so they should all arrive within an hour.

If you have already received a private message with the purchase details, you won’t get a message in the second batch even if you requested more items. Simply use the coupon from the first message to order the items you requested.

(for example, KawiBoy1428 was at the beginning of the list and the end, so a second message won’t be sent)

I ……sorry…. Sad Thanks a bunch TK! Big Smile Thumbs Up

Quick question, I'm hesitating on two scenarii mainly:

  • Buy one 7A now, buy an SST20 when released. Will the BLF code still be alive by that time?
  • Just wait for CRI95. Will the BLF code still be alive by that time?

PS: is there a post dedicated to comparing SST20 and XP-L in a bit more details than 1st post?

Thanks for answering, so no urge to order. I'd better wait a few more days for CRIs.

Do we have a rough expectation date/order of mgmagnitude like for SSTs? Like 2 days or 2 weeks

Got my code and ordered a 7A. Seems like most people are going after the 3D; I’m concerned this will be too yellow, but I was more worried that the 500k would end up being too cool for me.

Thank you to Fritz, TK, Neal, Lumintop and to anyone and everyone who has been involved in the making of this. Placed my order and now the wait begins.

Originally I planned on buying the 3D tint but at the last moment decided I’d try out the 7A tint instead.
Personally I’ve preferred lights with a CCT ~4000-4500K but the closer to 5000K CCT of the 3D might be a bit too cold to my liking in a flashlight like this.
If I don’t like it then oh well, I’ll just swap the emitters.

I hope it works for you. It’s part of the code of conduct at one of the largest makerspaces in the US where people interact in person and it doesn’t work as well as everyone would like.

It does, because you can’t get around it on a technicality – it’s surprisingly rare that we have to ban people though. BLF also has a very low rate of people being jerks compared to the internet average.

I agree.

BLF is a special place with a surprisingly good user base.

I spend a lot of my time here because of that.

Do all Carclo 3 LED optics fit?

This looks very interesting:
http://www.carclo-optics.com/optic-10510?optictype=tir

They should fit. The drawings don’t show dimensions on the optic where it fits over the LED, but all shown dimensions are the same.

If you try the elliptical, you should report back with your thoughts on it.

That one will be very floody. A throwier version of that style (there are 20mm, single emitter versions) would probably make a good bike light optic.
