You were describing a basic momorized level. When you single click to turn it On, you go to the last used setting.

So if you like to keep it at a specific level, you can. One click On and one click Off. It stays at that level.

Keep in mind that all UI’s are a compromise because you can’t please everyone. Even though the operation of Moonlight on the SP70 is not perfect, I think this is a solid improvement over the UI on the S70S and L6.

I personally don’t ever use lower levels on my big lights because I have smaller lights that are better for moonlight.

I’m guessing Sofirn would rather us talk about what we want than nit picking the current light and leaving a bunch of negative stuff for search engines to find.

I like Barry’s list. 4000k is ideal for me but its an easy change so I don’t really care.

Narsil would be better. No one is going to use candle mode with this and throwers aren’t really ToyKeeper’s thing. This is Tom’s domain.

Add in some input from Kawiboy, TA or Dale and this thing could be special.

Do the sales figures of the current SP70 look good enough to make a BLF version?

I totally understand the “last mode” idea. In my opinion, it’s probably a good feature. The problem I see is the ramping from OFF. I cant ramp from OFF to HIGH. Ramping from OFF only goes into moonlight mode. Then you have to turn it off, then 1 click turns it to blindingly bright light.

Sofrin needs a ramping mode that goes from 0 to max, while holding the switch from OFF.

Yeah, this function was quite low on my list of priorities. I’m glad the overall UI works as well as it does.

A simple fix might be covering the lens with your hand or leg to avoid any sudden brightness while you ramp down.

A counterpoint could be that some people like that you can activate moonlight without loosing your preset level. Losing the preset certainly irritates me that’s why I use a different light when I need a very low level.

Like I said, no UI suites everyone perfectly.

I purchased this light thinking it was going to have ar glass and becu springs, but I’m not disappointed that I misunderstood. I like the sofirn lights I’ve purchased and would love to see an upgraded blf edition with a good price, I’d purchase another.

I was told that they were using BlueSwordM’s BeCu springs. Does anyone know how to confirm this?

Speaking of magnetism…will a magnet in the tailcap be available as an option?

All is needed is a stronger magnet….

I don’t think so. BlueSwordM did give a good advice but engineers believed they can find great springs too. So……

Hope someone can compare these two kind of springs.

Awe man, that means the springs might be the cause of the lower amperage. I might bypass the springs instead of swapping the FET and see if the amps go up. I want to keep it stock for right now so I can do more measurements.

Ah damn it.

I know they are using BeCu, but they haven’t told me what type.

They could be using:

  1. BeCu C17200 22% IACS.
  2. BeCu C17530 38% IACS
  3. BeCu C17500 45% IACS

Looking at the current achieved here, it looks like they are using BeCu C17200.

On one hand, that means they are about 55% the conductivity of BeCu C17530 that I use, and the longer spring along with the thinner inner spring means there is much more resistance.

On the other hand, I do support their decision for cell compatibility purposes.
BeCu C17200 has close to the same mechanical properties as steel, but with 3-3,5x the conductivity of that.

That means variously sized 26650s and 21700 can fit in the same light without making it very hard to close the light.

Or they could just be using phosphor bronze. It’s obviously not steel though.

That means the BLF edition can be improved on that point however.

So, BeCu C17500 45% IACS would be best for lowest resistance?

BeCu C17530 is the best overall.

I nitpik, that's what I do, but also to get the info out there as clear as I can, sometimes opinions added. The UI is quite usable as-is, but everyone has their own priorities of "musts" and "nice-to-haves"

But, I really do like this light!! It's amazing what it can do stock! Very happy with it, specially considering the cost.

I haven't followed all the reports on throw #'s, but again, very happy with mine with bypasses and good cells.
